Yes Uncle Fester, I am cranky because I miss the M3 and my bike has gone now too  - I'm stuck with a FWD hatchback with a shade over 200bhp. Its simply not enough! Although it is considerably cheaper to run than the others were

I guess the final straw will be when you get a link to a post on a bmw forum where some 18yr old bloke in an M3 stuffed some bloke called Reg in an LCR into the weeds - i guess it would be double the pain if the M3 in question was your old one ;)

I'm only approaching 200bhp in mine but for me it does all i want, quite rare you can find a car that appeals to almost every need you have :)

pmsl, I'd know better than to pick on an M3.

I think my LCR is great, but I still see it as a family hatchback thats been stiffened and tuned (sucessfully I might add). As soon as I can I'll chop it in for something a little more to my tastes. Rear wheel drive, 300bhp+ and a proper chassis made to handle. Right now a new business venture has soaked up my money so this will have to do.

Could have picked up a stock R33 or R32 skyline for Ibiza money if it was just a short term solution .... the bloke i live with runs an R33 Single turbo 2.5 and it's pretty rapid .... judging by the state of the rear tyres he's not got bored of oversteer yet :)

I guess that makes the Leon a poor mans golf gti or audi a3?

Great post at 15.27 Reg

not at all......we own Seats.....not VWS or Audis.....

a boxter is still a porsche...same brand

so why would ours be poor mans, just cos seat isnt such a big name, doesnt mean its a poor mans car

at the end of the day a boxter is a poor mans porsche.....a supposed status symbol....

and not very quick!!

I really hate that whole "poor man's" line :(

I had it with my Xsara that it was a poor mans Peugeot 306, and with the LCR that it's a poor mans S3 / R32.

My dad could have bought a 996 but he likes the Boxster S too much. There are very, very few cars that handle as well as the Boxster and he likes having a drop-top. Yes you can get the 996 / 997 in a soft-top but like all coupes which are designed as hard tops it is a compromise, which the Boxster isn't.
I suppose it isn't earth-shatteringly fast, but with the hood down it certainly feels it and for road use it is plently fast enough and track use the cornering more than makes up for it.

If you want a great handling cheap RWD convertible car ..... 2nd hand MX5 are one of the nicest handling cars to drive - bit short on power but drive one properly and you'll be given the perfect example of why you don't need tyre smoking power levels to have fun.

My dad had 3 of them, apparently i never drove any of them ...... ;)

There are far too many sarcastic digs on this forum, the poor newbie has only written 6 posts annd now I can't see him posting anymore! Sometimes I wonder why some of you bother posting, let alone reading this SEAT enthusiasts, forum!

I see your point, but the whole thing with Porsche is that the boxster kinda just fills a gap in the market because Porkas used to be out of most peoples reach, and so the Boxster bridges the gap so to speak.

SEATs started off as cheap cars anyway, so the LCR is more of a rich mans SEAT. :D
