Yeah my Dad's got a Boxster S and he is always on at me to swap cars with him as he bought the Boxster for the speed and not the fact it's a soft-top, handles superbly, holds its value exceptionally and has the Porsche badge.

I laugh at people who buy Ferrari's as everyone knows the Cupra R is the fastest car in the world.

I raced light last night and was several yards ahead of it when a Ferrari and a Porsche blocked my way. I think they were both flat out. Light must have sneaked between them at that point and got away.

Oh well, perhaps next time.:(

Not again :headhurt:

Do a search we had a guy on here who had a Boxster and he was really peed off. IIRC the thread lasted for over 10 pages.

At the end of the day he drives a Porsche and you drive a cheapo VW  Do you think he cares? If the Boxster isn't such a great car why does it keep winning awards?

I'd have swapped my Remapped LCR for a Boxster anyday of the week.

The guys are wesome on the MLR (Evo forum) Guys who buy a £5k Evo 4 and tune it a little to 300/340bhp and then start posting threads on the forum about how they whipped a Ferrari 360 / 911 GT3's and Turbo's / Diablos etc?!?

If you were driving a £100k 911 Turbo would you waste your time racing a rich chav and risk crashing your car? ... I wouldn't. I am sure they respect the fact that their car isn't 50 times faster than their exotic cars ... but the Evo IV was never exotic and neither is the LCR [B)]

I wouldn't because personally I think Porsche's are damn ugly, but I certainly would swap an LCR for Porsche money :cartman:

Each to their own, probably the worst example of car manufacturer to pick out (known for it's classic lines - harldy changed over decades). But if everybody liked them it would be a boring world.

I don't think the LCR would look all that nice in 20 years time never mind 40.

I've been told i'm odd for not liking them before, but I just can't stand them.

Especially the later model soft-tops. But I know they're cracking cars from what i've heard.

But just think, if you have porsche money, then there's bound to be at least one other top class car that takes your fancy isn't there. I'm more of a Ferrari man myself, if I had real money. If we're talking Boxster money, I'd probably have an old'ish Aston instead. :funk:

It's horses for courses. There's nothing wrong with you not liking them, we're all individuals and have different tastes.
Yes you could buy an old Aston for Boxster money but you certainly couldn't run it. The beauty of Porsches is that you can use them every day without them breaking down, costing a fortune in servicing and parts and losing a fortune in depreciation.
My old mans boxster probably costs the same to run as my LCR and certainly is better put together.

Ferrai will break down all the time. No you don't see them on the side of the road with the AA man having a look at the engine cos you hardly ever see Ferrari's.

Porsche is Bullet Proof - but I have to agree doesn't look quite as exotic as a 360 Modena ;)

As for paying £35k for a second hand Ford - I think your crazy, edit that to Aston Martin Uncle was going to get one and the carpet wasn't even held down properly at the door sills  ... They give you a Ford Modeo key with a different badge and the dials/door handles etc come from either Jag/Modeo parts department?!?

I know I know but you don't buy an "enthusiasts" car like that for reliability, you do it for the experience.

Although the perhaps the "experience" of breaking down in Ferrari is Uber-embarrassing and one best avoided.

Guy who used to own company next door to us had a Ferrari 475 for 2 or 3 years. It cost him a fortune in servicing / repairs and over 50k in depreciation.

You've only got to look at old 911's. You can barely buy one for £10k and they still work as well as the day they left the factory.

At last, someone give this bloke an award or even make him a mod. There is more to owning a car than how fast it is (even imaginary speeds).

Think thats a bit harsh... at the end of the day one reason and one reason only why 99% of us here get remapps , exhaust, FMIC, filters etc.. is to make our SEATS quicker than anyone elses...so hes just made a comment on the fact he "beat" or pulled away from a boxter...
i 100% agree with the comment that there is more to having a car than how quick it goes but anyone with a 1.8 20VT , type R, boxter S ...etc doesnt buy it for its MPG they buy it cuz its fast.

You rather missed my point there. If people want a fast car, or mods to their own to make it faster, good luck to them, I have no issue with that. But its rather naive to think every person in a porsche or other 'premium' performance car is going to be pissed off that something else is quicker, and the threads that appear almost daily are pathetic. A lot of the time people will buy a car like that simply because they can. I for one would much rather be in a standard Porsche Boxster that is slower than a modded Leon/Golf/whatever because the driving dynamics are just on another level - its simply so much more satifying. For 99% of us, whatever we drive there will be something faster. Does it matter? Does it f***.

Erm...dont know about that... do they come in yellow?? :p hehe yeah i agree with you mate.
Think there is something wrong wiv my Leon then cuz my mapped leon is a little slower than my mates standard Type R...let alone a boxter
Is there something wrong with it or am i just too honest?

I notice the tears in your sig ... are you sure you're not suffering M3 withdrawal symptoms and they're making you cranky :p

None of us should forget that we're dealing with a range of ages here, what i bought a car for / did with a car/ how i drive it have all changed over the years. Whilst I agree that Porsche and Seat can never be compared for ALL the reasons that have been stated.

For some people the very fact that they DID blow xyz away may well be half the reason they've done what they did to their car and since we're on a car forum for all ages, expecting them not to post about it is as naieve an opinion as the one that Seats are better than Porsches .... just my 2p worth.

Yes Uncle Fester, I am cranky because I miss the M3 and my bike has gone now too  - I'm stuck with a FWD hatchback with a shade over 200bhp. Its simply not enough! Although it is considerably cheaper to run than the others were
