It seems a few guys are having trouble with the alarms going off randomly and some cars having quite a prob with condensation.. Are there any FR owners out there completely trouble free.
Slightly worried after delving deep into some of the threads! Please bring my confidence back in this motor before I order it.

I am sure there are but dont worry seriously. The new leon no matter what version is a solid car. All cars have problems, just go to other car forums. Great thing about SEAT's is that we have seatcupra.net so we get heads up more so than others :)

I am sure you will love yours.

Don't worry Phnates, the Leon is a very good car, I had an Audi before (from new) and I can honestly say it is at least as good, very solidly built. My previous Audi wasn't completely free of faults (minor though they were). Call me cynical but what product/car really is free of faults these days  I'll tell you none, zip :D Go on order one, you know you want to ;)

Go for it mate. i dont have an FR, i have the TFSI Sport and its as good or better than any car i have owned before, including 4 Toyotas and a couple of Fords. Slight Rear Speaker issue apart from that :) Feels reallyu solid and well put together.

When i took the FR on a drive (Red with full kit) my g/f said she had never seen me grin so much :D You'll love it.

Go for it we have twoFR's the first one gave us a problem with the alarm - which was tracked down to the key fob/battery - was worrying after what we have seen on this web site!!
If you go to honestJohn or car reliablity index (some of it is very useful) I doubt if you buy a car you would just walk. ..........................

I'm convinced this is the car for me. It all boils down to how much I get for my X-Trail. Seems buyers are reluctant to venture into the 4x4 market at the mo due to uncertainty surrounding VED at next budget. I can't imagine that small 4x4s will be the target tho. Hoping to get my car for sale on eBay sharpish.

Yes !!!
I am one .
I drive a red FR TDi and am COMPLETELY happy with it .. I have not had any issues with wet windows, condensation, alarms or anything else . Nothing has fallen off, and everything works as it should .

I did THINK I had a rattle somewhere, but it turned out to be my coins in the ash tray .....

I know, I know , I haven't been a member for long , and have not had my FR long, but I HAVE done 1000 miles since last Friday ... mostly OFF the motorway where possible ( its a brilliant A and B road car [B)] )

Love it !

Right, I have an FR tdi 170.......

I have had a couple of small problems,

1). Rattle, seems it was teh center dash air vent, Seat ordered a new one, havent had it fitted yet as I havent had time, but the rattle it only intermittant, so I'm not that worried about it.

2). Condensation in the main light unit. Dissapears after having te lights on for a min or two. Told Seat about it and they said that if it gets dirty from teh condensation drying up and leaving water marks, then they will replace it for me. So not a problem there

3). Had a check engine light the other week. Took it to the dealer, they plugged it into VAGCOM and its been diagnosed as a Faulty exhaust pressure sensor, which also explains why mine has been trying to unblock the particulate filter, even after a good blast, its not getting a good reading. being replaced as soon as I can find the time to get back to the dealer for an hour :)

So, only 3 problems, none of which have spoiled my enjoyment of the car AT ALL!!!

Oh yeah, and mines 3 months old, got it on the 1st september..... Just gone past 17300 miles :) Had to book my 2nd service already :p

...almost trouble free

Have had none of the other "common" problems after 4500 miles (TFSI)...

I sometimes get a clunk from the steering rack when switching from left to right or vice-versa.

Really annoying rattle that turned out to just be the rear-view mirror, cabin is completely rattle free if you rest your finger on the mirror!

Only other complaints:

Awful MPG. Drive it properly (change up at 6500rpm etc.), get about 22mpg. Drive like an OAP, still only get 23mpg.

A-pillar blocks major forward vision. Need to move head around *a lot* to avoid SMIDSYing some poor biker.

Shockingly bad ride, can feel your brain slapping around inside your skull and other internal organs testing the elastic limit of their attached blood vessels.

BUT, GREAT FUN, WOULD DEFINITELY BUY AGAIN. 90% AS GOOD AS A FOCUS ST FOR LESS MONEY.

Vic,
Did you buy yours from Bury?? Called in this week but they didn't have one in. Sales Manager said it could be some time before they could get one for me to test drive.

Almost

My TFSI FR has been great (2 months old, 2800 miles) with only one slight problem, the door trim vibrates in the passenger door at anything above moderate volume (about volume 12 for those with Leons). I would go for it, great value for money and drives well. Although I would wait if they are going to be fitting the DSG gearbox I really wanted one but didn't want to pay the 4 grand it would have cost me to get one in an equivalent S3 or GTI.

In my LeonFR 2.0 TDI
Phnates have you driven one yet? If not do it, it'll make your mind up for sure!!

the torque is never faulty, it always puts a smile on ya face.

Were 5000 miles into our fr tdi, VERY happy with it, collected on launch day, no options, just luna grey. even with the dash rattle, just turn the stereo up a bit more if its still audible, and your laughin

Not driven one yet - Local dealer keeps selling the demo before it comes in - not sure this is allowed?!
My brother drives a VW Bora 130 Tdi and when I drove that I was awestruck with the power - How much more torque has the new Leon??
