what is the name of that unit that you can remove and bypass that stops the dump valve releasing boost? i have a feeling that's what my car is doing. if it gets a bit hot, or i change gear too fast, the boost will drop from about 16psi to 8psi for a few seconds then shoot back up again. it does it in every gear sometimes, then 2 minutes later won;t do it at all, then will do it again?! v.frustrating when i'm trying to have a friendly play with something. i was having ago against a pulsar last night and held it at 40mph in 2nd, we both went for it and i was fine in 2nd and 3rd, then all of a sudden the boost dropped in 4th and then went up again after a few seconds. happened to my mates ibiza and he removed this box thing and now he says it hardly ever does it. is it n249 or something? could this be causing the problem? thanks

Yep, it's the N249. Do a search.

Hooch removed mine for me and it smoothed things out. Much better to drive :D

You not had any issues??
Nope. Was a big improvement imo. Drive is so much smoother and no more dropping boost. Well worth the 5mins it takes. Tidys the bay up as well :D Also makes getting to coil packs easier when they go (not if! lol)

wayne - were your symptoms similar? boost really drops for a few seconds then goes back to normal and randomly does it?!

do i need to buy a bit of silicone tubing to bypass it?

Hi wayne
was it 5 min. including the resistor needed not to throw a CEL??
That part seems a bit complicated to me.
Sim's guide is great but seems hard to follow.
Thanks

So is the n249 or n112 disconnected? or are they not? just a tidy-up job?
Where did you run the 4 mm tube from and to?

I know of the traditional SIM way of doing it.
All this started when wayne said he did it in 5 min .
That seems quick and easy compared to SIM's guide .
So how did you do it?

It took Hooch 5mins to do it on my car as he's done it before. If I'd done it it would have taken 5 days lol!

It's very straight forward. The guide makes it look more difficult than it really is.
