ive been told by many car shops is that the general rule is that u can go 2 inches bigger than standard, cause the tyres makeup the difference.... that being said a lassie in my work with a brand new polo wanted 18's as a optional extra and vw told her the biggest they'll put on are 17s, and if you go to www.alloywheels.com the largest size they do for the mk4 is 17, so must cause problems.... they do up to 19's for an astra mk4

Can any fellow NI Ibizers suggest where to goto to get my 18s on properly and car dropped at the same time??

Im from NI (apparently i had the nicest MK4 ever lol ) and i can here by tell you not to waste your time or money on 18's. Buy 17's and coilovers. 18's rub, make the car handle like ****, and as a local guy found out, the rubbing makes the tyres blow out!

17's are big enough plus if you want good tyres they are going to cost loads being 215/35/18 very low profile

i am goin to learn the hard way 18 inch will be on at start of new year and you can get 18 inch 215 by 35 from 48 pound upwards .to tell you the truth they are just for the look but will keep my cupra wheels for racin about in . My cupra wheels are all stone chips worst designed wheel the way it sticks out in the middle then goes in just asking for stones to hit lol.

will have pics up once i get tyres on

i love my 18's. they dnt rub with 225/40/18 tires on either. if u lower it youll need to remove the inner arches which isnt that big a problem as they aint protectin much (on mine anyways). got told by my local bodyshop that the arches cant be rolled as they attach to the actual car only about 3 inches up from the bottom of the arch so they said it was a waste of time bring the arch out with only 3 inches of height to play with. they also said it would look silly with rolled arches because the car already has a collone style swedge line running along the bodywork anyways. i reckon if you get arch work done try an get the orginal lines on the top of the arch and make them bigger. had a look for myself and they seam to be right.

Thats what i may be doing in the new year, same as the Cupra R concept pics, just get them painted black or a really dark anthracite.
