more boost than standard, more than likely has an open filter too, could even possibly be running stand alone management which wouldnt require the use of a MAF filter, so a wooshy wooshy dumpvalve would work fine

My DV is very loud through an open cone filter, very audible inside and outside the car!

Looking tidy as ever [B)] , I see the air feed but are you using a heatshield too? obviously less of an issue this time of year........

probably my fave leon that i've seen on the forum! sweet ride :D

will one of those jetex cone filters fit a LCR and does anyone know of the powertec cone filters, i'm thinking of swapping from my BMC, tbh power gains are always going to be negliable or at best barely noticeable on my standard LCR, but it's the sound i'm interested in and the BMC, doesn't really do much.......what sort of sound would one of those jetex or powertec cone filters make?

cheers guys.

No real need for a heatshield, changing from the enclosed BMC to the open cone felt like I'd removed a restriction, feels alot more responsive and definately breathing better for sure. An EVO owner did tests on his cone filter with and without a heatshield, the difference was tiny. Once on the move the filter gets plenty of cold air. The intercooler cools the intake charge anyway - not the air filter, the air filter just filters out dust and muck before it hits the turbo, the air leaves the turbo very hot before being cooled by the IC.

The sound is awesome - induction growl, turbo spool and dump noise - fantastic!

Yes it will fit an LCR as the neck is 80mm and I am running an 80mm MAF, the filter is FR-08001, rated to 410bhp and cost £46.28 inc.VAT.

Sound good.........Suppose the only argument then is an everyday driver in summer stuck in traffic or in town may suffer more heatsoak

rob, what's the rubber pipe connecting the filter to the MAF?

do the jetex filters from that link you posted come with everything you need to fit an LCR?

thanks for your help.

Yes, but performance doesn't matter when you're sitting in a traffic jam, the air soon cools once on the move. Personally I have only noticed a positive effect from the cone filter, pulls harder and sounds awesome! I removed my fogs and now have 3" ducting going down to bass tubes (£5 for the pair off eBay!) that I modified into the lower grills. Plenty of cold air is being rammed into the engine bay from both intakes now.

I joined the duct to the tubes using proper heat shrinkable adhesive collars.
