**UPDATE** LCR Just failed it MOT!!!......Now Passed

My 2002 LCR has just failed it's MOT on the following and here are the costs that Camberley Seat have quoted to fix:

Drivers side Track Rod End - £72 fitted (Part is £7)
Front Anti Roll bar (Broken Bracket) £245 fitted
Exhaust Bracket need welding £55
Rear indercator bulbs - £5

Anyone know the cost of the Anti Roll bar. I refuse to pay their £75 per hour labour charge!!

Yep the mounting bracket. They say it's all one item and the whole bar needs to be replaced, is this correct or are they trying to fleece me??

Could it be welded and fixed back into place..???

That doesn't include fitting and realignment though (the front subframe has to e dropped to change the front ARB).

I'm suggesting that the price is about right for changing the whole front ARB, but that they perhaps don't need to change the whole ARB.

Ring a dealer's parts department, or perhaps Awesome or JBS or somewhere that will have done one before and ask them nicely...

arb clamp on subframe? or end of it?

Its a drop subframe a bit to access it, undo steering rack etc but not a biggie and not a new ARB??

Stealer?

Just asked and apperently it is the actual bracket in the ARB that has broken and it is a one piece, so new ARB and bushes. The parts are about £90 inc VAT, the rest it labour.

Strangely that was on the shopping list provided by Camberley for my LC to pass it's MOT. Coincidence? I wonder....

bracket in the arb?

bracket is on the subrame or on the ends and is seperate

unless they are suggesting the end of the arb has broken??

When the front suspension started creaking on my Leon, they diagnosed failed ARB bushes as the problem and replaced the whole ARB assembly. That was under warranty however.

Kinda good news is that they didn't actually MOT the car, Camberley do a pre MOT inspection with the service so I don't have to fork two lots of MOT costs.

The crazy thing is that the parts to fix the car are about £90 in total, £80 for the ARB and £10 for the track rod end. However, they have advised that I need a new tyre due to the ARB and track rod throwing the tracking out. Car has only done 5K miles since its last MOT, service and all 4 tyres wer changed!!

Got a life time gurantee on the exhaust so gonna get that fixed by the manufacture, saves me another £55!!

The other bit of good news is that my other halfs mum works for Inchape Ford in Farnborough and they have some friendly machanics who work after hours or on Saturdays. Guy did new tyres for replaced all discs and pads a year ago for £25!!

if your arb is knackered (can't see it myself but who knows) then get an aftermarket one rather than refita new OEM one.

You can then get a rear ARB and really improve on handling too :)

Just spoken to Awesome, JBS and AMD they all advised that they would get OEM parts from a dealer so no point in the getting the for me.

Now the guy at JBS recommended that I get a MK4 Golf R32 ABR. It is thicker than the LCR one at 23mm, the LCR is 20mm, and get the bushes and pipe clips to go with it. I mentioned this to AMD and they were unsure if it would fit because the R32 is 4WD and the LCR isn't. Any ideas on this anyone??
