the only thing i would use in mine is v-power or tesco 99, preferably V-power if im being honest

my map was mapped to 98octane when i was apr'd, anything lower than this octane level the ecu would knock the timing back and my car would run flat as f@@k,

if your cars not mapped for the fuel octane you wont get any benefits from it apart from a cleaner running engine, if it is then you will gain about 5/6bhp from going from 95ron to 98+ron, this is what i got told regarding my map off awesome-gti

the ecu is adaptive though, so it will still run fine (or atleast it should do, if it dont then it aint set up properly) it might lose abit of power but not a great deal really.

sometimes people get caught out and have to use a 95ron fuel, it happens alot (not that everyone likes to admit it)

why do you HAVE to run on vpower? the car should still gonna run fine on any other 97,98,99ron fuel and even 95 occasionally if u have to

The car has a remap done to work around Optimax/V-Power and so i just stick to that! I probably could use other 98/99ron but i dont want to and there is LOADS of Shell garages around my area ;)

I have no idea how much petrol is, or what my MPG is

I just wait for a beep to let me know that I must visit the refuelling station and stand there until the pump stops. I go and pay and go about my merry way...

I have trouble remembering my own name at times.

Oblivion is bliss.

I never used to look into mileage or petrol to be honest, i got the car because i wanted it and just put petrol in when i needed it!

I have looked into it more this year after seeing a lot of threads about it

is anyone using additive such as red-x or such like (as these are supposed to give better MPG)

Fuel is preety cheap where i am:

Optimax 85.9 or normal shell 83.9. i only use proper petrol stations though, i.e. shell, bp etc... as there are to many additives in supermarket petrols. so i have been told.

Does anyone know the old skool way of working the MPG out. whats the mathmatics formular?

Trying to work out what my williams was. fill up for £35 got 220 ish miles to the tank and was paying 86p a litre.

Any ideas?

if people are getting regularly as low as sub 28mpg, and they've "tried" to be economical then there's something a miss.

a full tank is 45L, so comparing money worth is pointless really - brim to brim mpg is the best calculation, and on std FPR the computer is pretty accurate (for average mpg) pretty much nailling the 10x the average figure will give you your maximum range. you can run for miles on 0 though.

38mpg is easy to attain, 45+ if you cruise to get where you want. but it's frustrating.

no boost = no fuel = no load

Not a good idea gettin anything mapped to Optimax/V-Power as it degrades over time and doesnt actually have a RON rating coz of this.
