Wish I'd got a photo of the Cupra Turbo number now!

But it's very tight round there on a road car

However - I think some Journo's have driven it.... recently

Which hopefully means they're getting closer

Spoke to someone today, who unfortunately had got a bit confused with the question I'd originally asked, but got some potentially useful information:

First off, still dunno what turbo is on the 240 engine, but he did say the 230 was the same turbo as the 200, just "recalibrated" (i.e. different map).

He also said that the S3 engine was significantly diferent, I think he said pistons, definitely rods, possibly crank and there is "additional cooling" probably extra or larger coolant apertures in the block, making the block different.

Wonder if that's that extra pipe is, something extra on the cooling system?

Yes thats all known info already. :)
The BHZ has pistons with stronger pins, reinforced cylinder block, and new higher heat resistant alloy head. Higher pressure injectors. and larger k04 twin-scroll tubo. and a thicker intercooler too.

The extra pipe is air as it joins up to the turbo intake pipe. I have photos if anyone wants to see.

i actually think that it's the diverter valve repositioned... this extra pipe comes out between the intercooler and intake manifold... anyone? i really think that's the diverter...

dude... what? in the 1st photo u can see the pipe is conected to the air intake just after the MAF where there's no pressure, and at the other end it's after the intercooler. when the dv opens it recirculates air form there to the intake, after the MAF. makes sense to me

the edition 30 golf gti has got the same turbo as the audi s3, its a k04 variant.
i would have thought the cupra has too, no details until january on the seat part numbers. it should be the same as these
Turbo:

195 KW BHZ (S3) 06F 145 702 C KKK
169 KW BYD (edition 30) 06F 145 702 C KKK

Block and internals:

Rumpfmotor BHZ (S3) 06F 100 035
Rumpfmotor BYD (edition 30 ) 06F 100 035

Still doesn't match up to the Curpa BWJ  but it's interesting that the block and turbo numbers are the same...

See below from ETKA for the Cupra BWJ part list, note they both have nearly the same parts BWA (ie. FR) & BWJ. Part numbers different to above as well, 06F 145 701 C

Whereas this is the S3, just confirming what we already knew really:
