I've posted before about this, but I'm consistently having performance problems with my LCR. The problem is, it doesn't perform!

I've just had the opportunity to go out and get a MAF log with VAG-COM and I wondered if somebody could check it out for me and let me know what they think? I'm no expert, but from searching, reading and remembering figures discussed before the figures I've got here seem really low?

Anyway, here you go, I did two runs with it. Both times I started it when I had the chance to put my foot down for a long stretch from first gear so hopefully the numbers are useful.

This is the first run.... block 003

I'm no VAG Com expert but the MAF g/s readings for a remapped LCR are around 195 - 205 range, yours are nowhere near, looks as though it's faulty and reading low to me.

Any fault codes logged with VAGCOM?

Can you borrow / swap the MAF with a mate? should be circa £80 on exchange at somewher like GSF anyway.

Oh, one other thing, I'm still getting the fault code:

17705 - Pressure Drop between Turbo and Throttle Valve (check D.V.!)

Would this tie in with MAF problems? The car is standard other than a Forge 007P DV, and I cannot find any obvious problems with pipes or connections, everything seems nice and tight.

I think a standard LCR should be around the 160/170 gs peak, also most people say use 4th gear to do logs although I use 3rd.
Yours do look very low though.
Are you sure you don't have a split pipe somewhere?

What does 118 and 115 log? And can I do that with the shareware version of VAG-COM? If so, I'll get on and do that tomorrow.

If it turns out I do have a boost leak, how easy is it to track down the exact location of this and, more importantly, put it right?

Cheers, I've ordered a licence for the full version so will get on and do that.

Incidentally, I tried driving the car earlier with the MAF unplugged and it seemed perfect and drove really nicely. Power was as I would expect. However it still logged a couple of errors, including the one above, a 'low signal from MAF' and a message about running rich... the last two I assume were directly related to the MAF being disconnected?

Will do the same tomorrow if I get the chance, I'll try and run the car with MAF and without MAF back-to-back to make it fair.

That does point to a dodgy MAF sensor as the ECU will substitute it's own values for the maf readings when it's unpugged

as said this indicates a dodgy maff!

That log means little.. looks like you went up through the gears.

You need to get a rolling start and nail it in 4th from 1.5K revs, this will load up the engine / turbo it ensure better readings......

Service the DV also and check all the pipes for splits very carfully;)

might be worth while cleaning the maf too, before replacing have a search loads of info, and the codes are indeed due to un plugging the maf

Cheers for the advice!

Vern - The DV shouldn't need a service as it's only two weeks old and was bought new.

I'll re-do the logs again today if I can, this time in 4th gear only. I'll post back when done :)

If the DV is brand new - check that the 'o' rings are correctly seated and all there etc.

But it does sound like the MAF
