i drove the S3 last saturday and its very.........well, OK I guess.
0-60 was very well handled, and although I'd be pressed to say it felt like 5.5 seconds supposedly it is.
It was a case of '**** to blanket' handling, but the new Quattro makes life just a little too safe and predictable for the enthusiastic driver. I refrained from dobbing the ESP off as the salesman was on the run with us. It's a good car, but nowhere near the price they are asking for it.
I said to m0rk the other day, they have spent too much money leaning the S3 out against the competition using bespoke aluminium panels and running gear. All that cost has escalated into a car thats WAY overpriced against its peers for its dynamic abilities.
I think the Cupra is the 'better' car; however I just couldn't
help but take issue with the new Mk2 exterior looks (particularly the nose) and dash plastics. Still gonna be a monumentally good car though, even at £20k.
