Can one of you please explain how I go about removing and selling the revo ecu. Also where would i get an original ecu from and at what cost.

i tried to do this last month, swapping my stock ecu for a revo'd ecu, (Well CordobaBrendy did) and couldnt do it without the 7-digit code and date-stamp for coding the key when resetting the Immobiliser. I didnt have this and didnt want to ask my dealer for it as obviously would arouse a little suspicion...

buy revo for 400quid ( +vat for diesels? i dunno)...sell for 300, buy bells remap for 250...

i make that a loss...?
and thats providing he can even get 300 for his ecu

alot of contraversy over this then, so why dont you get someone to upload a print of a revo'd tdi and someone with bell auto's then you will have a better idea. i know everything is diffrerent on papaer but least you would have figures

seams a lot of waste of money to me its going to cost him roughly £700 plus to get roughly the same results i know it not my money but there is no way i am doing away with revo for a custom map.
the only reason i can c him for change that it wont pull top end.
and i can not c that u r going to get any improvement on a custom map
surely he would be better of in buying a sps device to change the timing and boost .
to c if that would make is problem better.
my m8 tdi is awesome and he loves is revo remap.
and it does seam to pull very well.

seen as i am a cisco network engineer and my neighbour works for a company designing all the programs for the raf fighter jets then speaking from a bit of experience i have done some programming and believe revo is a tad expensive.
when bell autos can read ur ecu down load,fettle,upload,road test that takes longer than a plug in generic map all for £250 i know where my money would be going

R&D for use of sps devices?
user adjustability of the map using said devices?
R&D for anti theft program?

also big difference between a tad expensive and rip off

Software engineers worth their salt cost a fair whack, premises, support, dealer network, further development of new products, development of products that never sell all cost time.

The market is saturated with chip tuners at the moment (we get so many enquiries from people that we are turning them away) - the devaluation of their product is up to them - but at the end of the day the people chopping them out 'cheap' are cutting their noses off to spite their face IMO. Reducing market, increased competition - if you don't offer any 'extra' functionality it's hard for joe public to differentiate between anybody.

Cant change anything on a diesel. Only SPS1 works (ie on/off)

if u can not change it with one of them i am sure there must be a way to change it
with a revo dealer

Thanks for all your advice. I am goin to stick with revo for now and get an uprated clutch, CAI and exhaust then look into getting a custom map to make the most out of the mods.

You'll still only get minimal gains in delivery from Revo to CC even with a few choice mods, Unless you get something more substantial ie injectors/DP?or turbo.

When I spoke to another tuner the Generic map was £250... for them to map around ALL my mods was around £475....

Maybe worth mentioning...or double checking Bell do Custom Maps for £250...

not really i have only heard good things about bell autos and revo is a very expensive rip off £500 for 20 mins work, good work if you can get it eh.
once the code is designed and most probably paid for itself in 1st month or so then why ask silly prices for a system download.
they could make money on it now at half that price easy

If they halved the price I'd get it done tomorrow
