Hi people. My project at the mo is the family run-a-round. A base model 96 mk2! Im looking to change the original 13in wheels for some alloys but im new to this so id just like some advice!?

1: Whats the biggest alloy that will fit with NO modification to the car?
2: What other makes (Apart from VW) will fit?
3: Whats the Rim depth, offset & Stud Diameter of a mk2?

Cos its a 96, its pre-face lift if this makes a difference!?

ps- Cos my rides still just a base model with added fog's & seat icon num plates, is there a thread I can post a pic in that you all wont laugh at!?:(

1. Biggest wheels with no mods would be 17" (dependant on width) but generally 16" is more than enough for looks and comfort. You might get a little rubbing with the 17's but others run em no probs. (I run 16")

2. VW are the main fitment. You need wheels which have a 4x100 PCD

3. Rim depth? dunno offset is around ET38 IIRC, stud is 4x100 PCD

no real difference for the pre-facelift model. I have noticed that the pre-facelift cars have a small arch lip on the rear arches which the later models don't, this can be folded back or removed or left in place (i left mine well alone)
