Leon Cupra 4Motion

Read all four pages!

http://www.channel4.com/4car/gl/gallery/spy+shot/1089/

Things i learnt here:

There will be a 4x4 version of the leon. Looks crap, and wont go off road. reminds me of that one that rover did. But it has four wheel drive, this is good.

The cupra will go on sale early 2007, you might have known that.

There will be a 3.2 ltr v6 all wheel drive version called the Cupra R. :wtf: i thought cupra was replacing cupra r and fr replacing cupra! we was lied to! It will just be a cheaper version of the golf r32, like the fr is of the golf gti.

Why dont SEAT just tell us these things instead of channel 4 and thier spys?

The Leon Cupra will be front-wheel drive, not four-wheel drive as rumoured. However, with the Volkswagen 4Motion system on tap - and the SUV-ed up Leon also seen testing this week - a power-to-both-ends Leon is very much a likely prospect. This will come later next year in the shape of the Cupra R, which will also get the 3.2-litre V6, as in the Golf R32, probably tuned to top the 250bhp in the Golf.

throw in a few maybe's and the odd we reckon and you have conclusive proof :)

we KNOW the first bold word is correct. the Leon Cupra wont have four wheel drive. It makes a statement: This will come later next year in the shape of the Cupra R, which will also get the 3.2-litre V6, as in the Golf R32. ANd then makes an assumption Seat wont want to be out done but VW.

So maybe, i reckon, you should read it again.

Its an article of complete conjecture and bad journalism in my opinion, as do many of these Spy-shot articles, the manufacturers wont comment on them, so the mags and journalists make up their own minds. It was published back in April of this year too, and much of what it reports on is out of date now.

The Altea is the most likely model to get the 4x4 treatment, a Scenic 4x4 like Altea has been mentioned on several occasions.

This came before SEATs financial issues during the summer also, and the company has had something of a restructuring and a fresh direction for future models.

What was said within this article should be taken with a very large pinch of salt.

Nice set of Snow tyres - The problem with the VW marque is that Audi rule the roost and dictate some of the performance parameters [cant have other marques being quicker than Audi]!!!.
A 4motion spares kit is listed in Seats leon parts list on the web - pre mkII
Its pity co's there such a spare parts bin to play with - I could have a field day!!!

VW used to have more say in SEATs direction in very recent times, but Audi are now calling the shots and have taken much of the control away, if media reports of the business crisis were to be believed back in the summer.

The 2.8L 4MOTION Leon Mk1 was available in Europe, some folks did personal imports on them into the UK, but they are only available in left hand drive, they also did a Leon 1.8 20VT 4 too.

Agree... the black "spy shots" that they show, are the same photos we saw about 1 year ago (remember the mirror housing missing??) - it turned out that they were the cupra testing pics.. ;)
