you be paying 250 quid for what 1-2bhp and 5lbs of torque?

more clutch wear more smoke. won't make a difference to top end it'll still be slow over 120mph, with 190-200bhp and 4500rpm

hope it work out nicely for you,

BRAIN WAVE!!!

WHY DON'T YOU SELL PART EXCHANGE YOUR REVO ECU WITH ANOTHER 150PD AND THE SECOND REMAP WILL PAY FOR ITSELF!!

that's is a good idea good think there batman
u could post it up on here that there will probably who will do a deal with u say your revo ecu for £200 quid with a swoop with there's
then that would pay for ya custom code
my mate as revo on his tdi tell the truth i have a lot of trouble beating him in mine revo cupra.

good call mate.....thats the way i am gonna be heading real soon.....for me Revo just aint all its cracked up to be!!!!!!

Spot on I agree................it was way more with just a remap and a dump valve

It was so good I offered Revo an extra £100 cos they said I'd only make 265bhp and it was 272bhp+

Thanks for the the advice. So most of you pretty much agree that I wont notice much of a difference between getting a custom map and revo?

What do they mean by ''custom'' remap though?

Are you sure it isn't just an off the shelf map being sold as a custom map?

CC for example costs £500 for its phase 1 and around £650 for its phase 2.

Why are bell auto doing it so cheap?

Is it not the old saying? Get what you pay for?

not really i have only heard good things about bell autos and revo is a very expensive rip off £500 for 20 mins work, good work if you can get it eh.
once the code is designed and most probably paid for itself in 1st month or so then why ask silly prices for a system download.
they could make money on it now at half that price easy

The most you could realistically see is around 210BHP at a push.

£250 for 8 BHP. I'd put it towards something else. You sorted an Exhaust option out yet, Or strut brace?

Even a few tank fulls of diesel!

agree with the above, just because its cheaper doesnt mean its not as good, if it is better then it will show people revo is a rip off then

Thanks for all your advice. I have decided to go for an uprated clutch and then get a custom map. I am also gonna fit a strut brace this weekend.

Do Bell autos only do diesels then?

If you look in there section they have had nothing but good feedback!

I wouldnt be so quick to write off Revo. We'll wait and see what the difference is with the Bell remap. One tuner may get higher figures than the rest, but at what cost?

Phil have you got Dyno print-outs from your Revo RR?

Im interested to see what the RR difference is rather than the percieved human difference is ;)

It isn't just BHP figures, it's the actual drive & feel of the car.

The BHP could in theory be exactly the same, but on a custom map, you can choose when the power is delivered & by how much.

I'm well happy with mine :D

I'd sell the Revo'd ECU for the price of your new remap & original ECU - that way the new map will be FOC :)

You sell your REVO'd ecu to someone with a non modded ECU & swap it with yours + cash !!

You will need VAG COM (or know someone with it) so you can add the new ECU to your car

Some people may disagree with me but i feel a custom map will be able to exploit the power of the car more.

it's a diesel!
*opened a can or worms now* just for fun

imo its a pure waste of time and money, you might get a more custom delivery but nothing more

and as for the people saying revo is a rip off...how much software engineering have you done then? :ban: bet your a credit to the open source community

No offence but i think your utterly mad, you wont notice any difference in the real world. My gf cant even notice the diff between stock and revo so the diff between revo and a slightly changed map is going to be un noticeable.

seen as i am a cisco network engineer and my neighbour works for a company designing all the programs for the raf fighter jets then speaking from a bit of experience i have done some programming and believe revo is a tad expensive.
when bell autos can read ur ecu down load, fettle, upload, road test that takes longer than a plug in generic map all for £250 i know where my money would be going

It isn't just BHP figures, it's the actual drive & feel of the car.

The BHP could in theory be exactly the same, but on a custom map, you can choose when the power is delivered & by how much.

For the sake of a few lbs/ft and BHP over a 200-300 RPM difference (at the most at the top and bottom end), I think it'd be more down to the imagination of the driver/owner. They may lower the turbo coming on boost (although I believe revo is pretty low to start with) and try and keep it on boost for longer, but IMO will make no real road difference.

When I had my exhaust done, did it make the car faster? Probably not, but it feels it. Im sure Phil will be happy when he does it, even if he comes back with it down on power. Just because it "feels" better, which is easy to convince yourself when you've just spent £250.

Im not saying it will or wont be better, all I can say is the difference will be so small that I doubt your could "feel" a massive difference.

I did consider this with Redcupratdi a while back. With uprated clutches we could up the boost and torque, but were told there is little to be gained once passed 200 BHP.

Edit- A diesel will never pull well at the red line. It just smokes :D

An im looking forward to hearing the Verdict on Friday :) (If you have Vag com do some loggin Revo and Bell ) Would be interesting.
