Cd autochanger playback cuts out intermittently

I've got a 2000 Toledo 1.8SE 20 valve. The Cd playback on the autochanger has started cutting out intermittently. Is this likely to be a dirty Cd changer? Or am I looking at a new unit? It's only just started, and wondering if anyone else has had the same problems.

Sounds like dirt on the lens. It probably needs cleaning.

Thanks mate.... not sure if I want to fork out for a new autochanger! I'll give that a try.

This should sort you out. A bit cheaper than replacing the whole unit

Mine does this too - not just limited to burnt discs either unforunately. Most of the time, if you swap discs and then swap back it fixes it (e.g. if you're playing disc 2 and it cuts out, change to disc 3 for about 10 seconds, then change back) but sometimes it can be stubborn and not work at all.

Then infuriatingly, it will work perfectly on the next journey

I'm resigned to having to buy a new one at some point, although it's still my number one justification for upgrading to a Cupra R...!
