Brake Pad Advise

Hi,

I need to get some new front pads for my LCR and wondered if anyone had recommendations on what to go for. The OEM ones fade a bit on hard braking.
Oh and i don't want to spend a fortune, under £100 if possible.

Cheers
Rich

Are there any other pads that a worthwhile getting that will have the wear indicators?

FYI the wear indicator only works on one side (Near Side) and only work when they feel like it, I know several people that have been down to the metal and still no light.

Also I know of several instances where the off side pad has worn quicker leaving 'meat' on the side with the sensor and the near side scoring the discs

So no other worthwhile pads then?

I only recommend what I have tried and the other pads were crica £140 with no sensor

Performance Friction Carbon Metallic;-
The best stopping power I have ever had, they inspire confidence and are awesome IMO
No Disc Scoring either
A little noise when cold but nothing to moan about
On the downside more brake dust than an F1 car

Hence the Ferrodo are a great compromise, they also make a slightly harder DS3000 version

For normal/fast road/ltrack day use, DS2500 everytime, regardless of money. DS3000 are too hard in my opinion and will wear the disks too fast. Not a fan of Mintex, 1144's might be ok, 1155 eat the disks in about 2 minutes. I can't understand why EBC make great pads for motorbikes, but seem to be rubbish at car pads. Pagid are good for lighter cars, not so much the heavier ones (like the LCR) - again, in my opinion.

Don't worry about the sensor, just cut the plug of the old pads, join the now loose cut wires together and plug it back together on the suspension leg, secure with a zip tie or something. You shouldn't be relying on sensors to tell you when something as vital as brake pads need attention, especially on something like the LCR where the brakes are so easy to look at and check with the wheels still in place.
