My cup holder has broke too :( another common fault eh

And the rear cup holder popping out is extremely annoying

MY rear one kept popping out so took it back and it was replaced under warranty.

Hmmmm......

My rear cup holder has just started popping out all the time and the car's booked at the stealers on Monday as the boot won't open :(

Perhaps I'll try to get a new cup holder out of them......

I have also had that problem too, its a problem with the boot lock mechanism, make sure they change the whole thing. A couple of times they took mine out, fixed it and put it back in and later down the line it still didn't work. It will actually open if you put the key in and play around with it a bit, forcing the lock backwards and forwards, taking the key out and using the remote, then trying again and again. But better you take it to the stealers like you say.

Luckily, the stealer I use now are pretty good and just replace things straight away when I have problems :)

Ok guys.....

My cup holder stopped working last night..... I press it and it wont come out.....

Anyone know how to remove it as mine is out of warrenty!

Took the HU out but couldn't feel if the surround was clipped in or if it was bolted....

Cheers for any advice!

Mine went a few months back..

Taking the old one out is easy. Remove the radio and cage it's fitted in. Undo the 4 torx screws located in the front surround where the cage fits. The screws are black but they are easy to see and get at.

With that done gently pull the front plastic cover off at the top near where the cup holder is.. it should snap free of a couple of clips at the top.. oh and there are a couple more clips at the bottom of the plastic near the heater controls.

When that's done, remove the wiring plugs from the hazard, heater and airbag buttons and draw the panel off. When that's done there is 1 screw holding the cup holder in. Remove, replace and re-fit.

Lookers Seat in Stockport charged me £23 for a new cup holder :(
If i was doing it again i'd adapt one from an Audi A4.. they are illuminated :D

Not sure on the Audi ones, but i'm sure it could be made to fit given some time and patience. Physically it looks similar and illuminates.... it wouldn't cost £23.... what more could you want?!?!

yeah mine's now broke, first the spring must have unseated itself, so it wont pop out, now the plastic henges are snapping off one by one, i've only had this car for 3 weeks! i'm seriously thinking about going warrenty on this but the hassle and time with the dealer is a big minus. i've magage to superglue some of the plastic back but it aint gonna be a cupholder anymore, just some black plastic on the dash that looks nice... and cheap. Man, I expect this on a hyundai, not some VAG part!

Get it fixed under warranty! Make the most of it before it runs out.

Mine still pops out, but wont go back in unless I push the bottom part up first :(
