Hiya all,
I own a mk2 GTI 16v and I'm just wondering how to increase the performance a bit more. I have done some research so I know that its quite expensive to tune (compare to the 1.8t lump), but it is possible. Now there are various things you can uprate on the ABF lump, but I don't know which ones are the best and which to do first. Cams, manifold, Remap, Exhaust, Cat, etc..... there are lots, but all are very different. Therefore I would be very grateful if anyone could do a little "stage" list for me to show me what order to modify the car. And what the rough costs and gains are.

For example:

1. Induction kit- £80- 3hp
2. Exhaust system- £250- 7hp
3. etc....

Many thanks in advance

Induction kit - don't bother, a simple modded airbox with B&Q air feed will do the job.

Funny you say that as thats my only performance mod so far, a drilled airbox with a K&N panel filter. And its also running on V-power.

it sounds like you already know the answer to your question?

but you cant really guess the performance gains. but what you've listed is the way to go if your gonna go all the way.

I know what there is to do, just dont know what order to do it in. I know that the airbox and a cat-back exhaust system first, but dont know what next. Do I get a set of Schrink cams next, or polish and port the head, and do I re-map it before or after these mods????

Cheers

work on the exhaust next, full system with header/manifold and sports cat/decat.
then cams, might aswell just get the head ported and polished while its stripped anyway
next a set of throttle bodies would be a great mod but probably the most expensive mod, so it depends if you wanna spend that much
now consider a remap
