it can be really bad like the car feels like a bag of crap and sounds like a rally car cos its running on 3 cylinders

or it can be less obvious like just a cylinder misfiring under load so every now and again when u boot it you lose power

depending on what engine u have the check light may come on or in my case it flashed at me when the misfire occured but then went out after

i bought new coilpacks recently from euro car parts for 14quid plus vat, expect to pay around double at a dealership

my coil pack died last night so i phoned seat today and they said that it is going to be 2 weeks before they are able to get me one

do you have the bosh/ euro car parts part number for the one's you bought.

Or are any other coil packs the same like the gti golf or something. I need to get something as i really cant be doing without a car for the next two weeks

i dont have a p/n handy but you could go on the ecp website and find it, but they arent bosch they are beru although Jonzy reckons thats just abit of branding and they are actually made by hitatchi? dunno if thats true or not il take his word for it

is there an ECP near you?

pretty sure mk4 GTi coilpacks are the same, so perhaps try a vw dealer

Have you got a part number for those? If they are that price I might order a couple 'just in case' ;)

I'd say it depends - when my other half's packs went earlier on this year (52 plate cupra), we sent it to the dealer (Ted Johnson, Barnsley).

They changed it free under warranty as they said VW et al had given a 5 year warranty on coil packs.
