Hi folks,

Noticed today driving home the yellow engine light was on on the dashboard. Car seemed to be ok but I noticed it's a bit slower (limp mode).

Did a VAG COM

Come up with the following;

16500 - Engine Coolant Temp Sensor (G62) Implausible signal
P0116 35- 10 internittant.

17536 Fuel Trim : Bank 1 (Multi) System too lean
P1128 -35- 00
Readiness : 0000 0000

So im guessing I best get myself over to SEAT and buy a new temp sensor tommorow...

Is the reason the system running lean also due to the temp sensor? Or is it 2 seperate problems here?

Also... Can I get the part from a VW / AUDI dealer if the local SEAT one is out of stock? Is it just one part for all or will I need a chassis number?

Changed it.

Cleared codes.

Hasnt come back, but I guess i'll have to give it a couple of days first.

Annoying as the sensor doesnt really seem to 'slot' into place but seemed tight enough!

Wierdly, I have exactly the same G62 'implausible' error.
Can you say where the sensor is located and how much it cost to get the part?

(I've recently had radiator changed, might be related!)

Cheers

Hi mate,

I paid £26 for the sensor + about £1 or something for the o-ring seal.
From local SEAT dealer, just tell them the part and they usually already know and won't need chassis number etc.

It is located in the bottom right of the engine bay as your looking down at it, it is plugged in DOWNWARDS.

It comes out easy, it is held in place by a plastic fork type clip, just pull that out, and it simply comes out.

Do it when the car is cold, as the coolant *MAY* spill out, mine didnt much but just in case...

Fantastic - cheers for the part numbers.
GSF have sorted me out and I replaced the part in the dark at work, which should show anybody searching this topic in future that you can easily do it yourself. You can also google the topic and roughly follow instructions for TT or most Audi's if you're still not confident.

I found that opening the water filler tank lid to allow pressure out, then re-sealing the lid would have kept any coolant from leaving when I removed the old sensor. ...or it would have done, had I done that first time around.

Cheers again.
