Similar concerns to me then matey, would be interested in finding out what effects it does have to Warranty, MPG etc

Regarding Octavia RS performance figures, I remember seeing (I think it was in Autocar) a suggestion that their road test car had "accidentally" been fitted with a more powerful (suspect that would be 210bhp at the time) engine by Skoda.

For me MPG definitely dropped from about 35mpg on a long journey to about 33. Thats not hanging about though. I don't believe claims that Revo improves Fuel Economy. I've had 2 cars chipped and neither fuel economy improved but many people say this is because you tend to drive it harder when you've got more power.

Chris mate - you'll love it. I came from an 1.8 Astra and I thought that was a reasonable drive. Then took a (now mine) Leon Cupra out for a test drive and bought it 15 minutes later. Absolutely superb cars.

Took it out on a spirited drive through the back roads over the salisbury plains to work this morning and it was sensational, and still returned 32mpg. I look forward to driving it every morning.

Things to look for:

1. Listen for the odd rattle - it seems ever single Leon has a rattle from somewhere or other... mines in the roof at 2000 rpm, just make sure you can live with yours wherever it comes from!
2. CD Changer: Make sure it all works as it should and comes from all speakers
3. A heavy foot in 6th on the motorway will get you into triple figures very quickly if you're not paying attention... so I'm told.

Things that have needed attention on mine so far (since Feb):
1. New coolant temp sensor
2. New rear seatbelt
3. New sidelight bulb (the one thats a sod to get at because of the battery)
4. Secondary Air pump/pipe - ongoing - sounds like I have no exhaust for about 45 seconds every morning while it warms up. SEAT say its 'normal'. I know its not.

1 to 3 all done under warranty with very little fuss. I'm working on 4.

To be honest, you may well find that you're happy with it as it is. I know I am. As I understand it, a remaped cupra (as opposed to a Cupra R) doesn't make such an earth shattering difference... Stage I revo takes it from ~180 to ~210hp. Yes torque increases by quite a large percentage, but if its torque you want, get a TDi :)

Get behind the wheel and see what you think.

This one is quite simple, although you may not like it....

Warranty - You have just changed one of the biggest components of an engine, the ECU! Seat loaded the ECU software onto their cars based upon what they think is the best compromise between performance, economy and reliability. You have just changed this to get more power, which means the other areas will suffer as a result. You car is now making more power than it did before, so it will be under more stress than before. In the eyes of Seat, this is enough to void the warranty.
HOWEVER... many dealers wont check the ECU software, especially when it comes to servicing it. The only time you would get found out is if they had to check or modify the ECU software for any reason. Or perhaps if they were trying to fault find a problem you're having, and they think the ECU might be to blame. IF they find out you have remapped the car, thus changing the ECU, they may take the easy option of blaming this and sending you on your way. Yes, this isn't always likely to happen. And Yes, many people will never have warranty issues with a remapped car. But some will, that's undeniable. It's a risk that only you can decide if it's worth it.

The way around it.... buy a switchable remap, such as Revo with one of their SPS devices. This way, should your car need to go into the garage for any reason, you can revert it back to stock :)

Reliability - As above, you have remapped your ECU to gain more power. More power = more stress on the engine. More stress on the engine = a shorter life span. Also, more power often has a habit of finding any little existing fault with an engine and highlighting it to make it worse.
HOWEVER! Do you drive your car around at full throttle 100% of the time? No? Didn't think so. Most (sensible) people tend to drive pretty normally and tamely most of the time and only really open it up when the road and conditions allow. So most of the time your car will be under no more stress than it would anyway.
A remapped car driven like this will be much more reliable than a standard car driven within an inch of it's life, for half of it's life.

It's a risk. There are Pros and Cons of course. But overall, if you approach it properly and with all the facts, I think it's a risk worth taking. I'm guessing you do too, or else you wouldn't even consider it ;)

I had my ECU replaced under warranty after a remap. If you have a APR remap it will NOT show up on any of the dealers diag machines i know this because my delaer tried all they could to charge me for it as they knew it had been mapped but could not prove it!
So IF you were to have any problems do what i did stick to your guns tell em the car has not been touched and shout lots near the show room!

Anway, i really wanted to to buy the blue Cupra mentioned earlier but with me doing 25k per annum, and that car still having 11 months warranty combined with a Revo map, i cant risk it - on the look out for a standard one now :cry:

Had it from new in June 05 then had the map 3 weeks later, the car has 21.000 on the clock now and altho its had a few probs i would defo recommend a remap!

ha ha, can someone who's done a load of miles in a mk1 Revo'd Leon please put Chris 16v's mind at rest on how reliable it is as he won't buy my car in case it lets him down!

Has anyone had any major issues in or out of warranty that have been caused by Revo?

Its a Metallic Black LC, 21k, FSH etc, absolutely immaculate! on 03 plate :)

I have reverted to a little kid who cant sleep - im a looser i know!

my leon will be clocking 87000 by the end of today i had it revo'd 1 month after i had it the only thing i replaced was the dv to the forge 007 1 i am quite happy with mine the only thing gone wrong is the maf sensor but this is a common fault with them any way as long as u change ya oil regular and look after it i don't think u will get any probs apart from whats be posted on these threads
my previous car was a vectra sri so going from 1 of them to my cupra.
if i knew what they where like i would have brought 1 years ago :funk:

Congrats Chris, hope you enjoy it... Just please please please take it for a Revo Trial... it lasts 5 hours and i guarantee you'll love it. It really makes the car what it should have been when it left the factory! You won't regret it.
