After weeks of searching around for perfect DV and induction kit combo - i decided on the Carbionio CAI and a Forge 007p DV - and i love the sound it makes!

However, i cant help but sometimes feel that the loud sucking and whooshing sounds a bit....well....chavy!

What do others think - chavy or classy?

Everytime i hear a DV and loud whooshing from a car - i expect to turn round and see a crappy 20 year old box with a ridiculous looking bodykit and a stereo worth more than the car and wheels worth more than their house!

You need to get someone else to drive your car and do a drive by for you lifting off as the car passes.

I thought mine were quite loud from inside the car but from outside the car on lift off, its hardly noticeable.

Dont think a recirc valve is ever going to sound 'chavvy'

the valve makes no extra noise at all from the standard one, as i have the CAI fitted for a few days before the DV arrived and once i had the DV fitted it added nothing extra at all

Its the CAI which makes all the noise!

It sounds very loud when i open the passanger side window and listen to it!

I think you are right though, i need to get someone to drive while i stand by and listen!!

Always great watching your pride and joy drive past when someone is driving it - gets u a good look at how it looks to others and always looks 100x better than when its standign in your drive!

Oh I love them.
We have a guy in our order tracking dept. with the works on.
I cannot get fed up of hearing it.
But if anyone wanted to listen he will let you have a listen to his.

I've got one on mine, with the Forge TIP and REVO it gets even louder.

It's very audible outside the car and the chavs i drive past to the gym love the sound :D

Don't have to use the car for rocking up to meetings or taking work people out. I get a nice oil burning mk5 Golf for that so no worries about looking a little childish in front of colleauges.

Honestly, it probably is chavvy. A classy noise would be something like a 4.2 V8 on full song.

definately chavy. I bought mine only to find that the whooses are really loud, and I hate it. I feel just like the people I would swear at under my breath as they drive past in there chaved up cars[:@]

The thing is, when you're driving in a place where people can hear you - i.e. along roads with busy paths, or in built up areas - are you really going to be revving it so much or driving so hard that it makes a massive loud noise?

When driving normally as you would in these areas, I can't believe it's going to sound too OTT at all.

To be honest mine is fairly audible if you change gear at about 3k, plus i tend to hold gears quite long anyway before i change.

Out of the two options chavvy or classy, i don't think it's a classy sound. I like it though, the noise hints that my car 'might' be a bit beyond the norm.

Its your car mate, if you are happy with it who cares what other people think. Seen and heard some really weird and wonderful cars which are obviously their owners pride and joy and they obviuosly dont care what other people think. Its good to get opinions but in the end its up to you. If you fit the stuff and you dont like you can always take it off and sell it. I'm sure there would be some eager beavers on here that would take them off your hands

it annoys me from time to time, when in the car. especially when cruising on motorway... constant sucking...

but > stero volume = no problem!

Not chav...
