Hi guys, its time of the year again for the service of my 1.6 SX to be due!

Ive been quoted from the dealers £196 for the service and £40 for the brake fluid service so call it £240.

I queried the use of Fully Synthetic oil and they informed me they already use this oil and no other now with their digital machine which fills the enging with the exact oil it needs as per vehicle, sounds good! (Mobile Long Life) Any gud?

Ive asked for the following on my vehicle to be checked and done also:

windscreen jets need re-adjusting

check battery and alternator outputs (due to in car system as posted earlier and recommended by ICECavern)

Pasenger side front door decides not to open when pressing the key fob

tail light, boot spoiler is loose and needs to be fitted correctly

and lastly the dreaded squeeqing sound coming from the rear, posted on here many times before with the possibility of grease or rear mounts needing to be replaced.

The service price also includes a 1 litre bottle of Mobile Long Life oil at £11.22 for top up in the future, included in the price above.

Is this the cost I should be looking at for all of the above to be done?!

Many thanks guys

Umar

P.S. My partner and I are also been given a complimentary day pass at the local health club for the day free of charge whilst I await my vehicle! Not bad

You can always buy your own oil, a good semi-synth will be fine and buy your own top up when required, might save you £10-20, or go to a specialist will save you loads more

Yeh car is still under warranty, still has another year left on it.

Dealers service states that the air filter needs to be replaced after 40k miles, do you guys not think that is a bit long?

Should I request them to change it at this service as well or is the 40k wait ok.

Thanks

I got quoted about £160 for my 150 tdi for its 20k, its bizarre that they dont include the brake fluid in with the costs as in the manual it says it has to be done at 20k anyway. And i wouldnt ask them to change the air filter they will likely charge the same as a green panel one, just do that yourself.

ok just been on the phone to my local Seat who I bought the vehicle off and told them that I wanted a discount because I bought the vehicle off them and been quoted cheaper elsewhere, which I had well sort of!

They offered me a price match everything included for £200 including brake fluid service. Seems a lot better to me, what do u think guys?!

Brake Fluid is at 2 years not 20K, so not necessarily the same time

I am a new Leon Cupra owner (180) and have been quoted £185 for 10k service. They seem to do most things including full oil change. Whats the best air filter to buy as the ones supplied are cr@p???

That sounds OK from a dealer if it's including the brake fluid change - assuming it needs to be changed as mentioned above it does only need doing every 2 years not every 20k service.

Just dug out the bill for the 20k service that was carried out on mine by a Seat dealer (in Surrey) and it was £196 inc VAT. That included a pollen filter, oil filter, oil, drain plug and screen wash (just tell em not to bother with that and fill it up yourself).

My 40k service was with an indepenent specialist and the labour for that was £18 cheaper than the 20k at a dealers (without brake fluid change). Total cost for the 40k which included plugs, air filter, polen filter, and wipers was £219 but I did supply the oil.

Big price difference between dealer and indepenent though!

The brake fluid that was done at a different time was £57.

The price they have quoted you does not sound too bad at all although it might be worth looking around for any local VAG specialists.

Green panel is regarded as the best not as oily as pipercross etc, about 50 notes though, personally i cant notice or feel any difference with panel filters so havent bothered to change it.
