Hello everyone!

Haven't been on here for a while, do apologise been busy at work.

Anyway, I'm calling on the knowledge of you tuning heads with this engine :)

At the moment I got 190bhp out of the car but ideally I want to go for 200bhp. The spec of my car is in my sig (saves me typing it all again).

So does anyone have any suggestions on how to achieve this power? I was thinking something to be done with the injectors and getting aftermarket management. A mate of mine noticed a lip in the throttle body that was restricting the flow, he got his machined out and noticed some difference so was thinking of having that done to.

Any advice would be great ;)

p.s. Love to have throttle bodies but don't really wanna spend out £2000 on them, unless I can find a second hand set.

Cheers for the help!

id just go straight to tb's and aftermarket ecu the money a rebore will cost

mind you mileage dependant, it may be beneficial, but then you get into bore wash, piston re-ringing etc

dont know how you have got 190 on std injectors as their only supposed to be good for 180 - whatever, to go for more you will need bigger injectors or increase the fuel pressure but this is gettin dodgy as the injector duty cycle tends towards 100% and this can burn out an injector in the long run - ideally they dont want to be operating beyond 85%. So you would have to find some bigger injectors to fit the abf fuel rail or get a new fuel rail and injectors. Never looked into this. You cannot really go bigger on cams on std management. You already have head and exhaust manifold done. So your options start to become limited....bigger capacity is one option - abf will go to nearly 2.2L - but this will cost you more than TB's and you will still need the injector mods and a remap - and I dont know where this can be done on abf's these days with std management. Its going to cost you a packet to go this next step, there is no way around this.

Why do you want another 10hp ? is it to go faster ? it would be cheaper to start gearbox mods IMO.

If you like I scan in my graph for you to see?

The car's quick enough but I always wanted to get close to 200bhp but now I either wanna be on that mark or above. I always wondered what would have to be done next, if it would have been something like bigger injectors and management then I would go for it but didn't know everything had to be bored out.

Thanks for the advice fella's! :)

to be honest mate 10 bhp more is going to be the most expensive payout yet.
for the money you may as well go for the holy grail, low pressure turbo then youd easily get over the 200 mark.

Because you have a graph dont make it so I'm afraid, RR's can vary immensely. Yes I would like to see though. Not knocking it as it sounds like you have a good engine but the injectors just cannot supply enough fuel for 190hp - I know this as they were the limiting factor on my old -2 engine (a brian ricketts motorsport BRM180 engine) when i went to stand alone managament before fitting TB's - the RR guy near me measured their max flow rate on an injector rig. I never upgraded them as I always knew TB's would be on the cards.

You may get some more on bigger injectors and stand alone management, and have seen bigger injectors / fuel rail for the abf in the usa - be very interesting to see if you got some more umpf - but this will still cost you perhaps £1500 by the time you are done unless you are skilled spark who can do all the wiring yourself or even make your own ecu like megasquirt or similar

I would like throttle bodies, sound amazing!!! :-o

Here's my graph's BHP and Torque

I am going back to Westec soon because I had my car RR there before I had the work done, so think it's best to compare before and after on the same rollers.

Rob T, you were on about the gearbox earlier... what can I do?

yes definately before and after on the same rollers.

gearbox - if you have a 2L 16V you probably have an o2A cable change box - on to top of the box on the bellhousing near the front is a flat bit of casting with a code stamped on it, 3 letters is what you want - this will tell us the gear ratios in your car - go get it !

i thought a modified 20vt manifold may be almost an equivalent but still only single t/body

stu - dunno if they are big enough (45?) but i have a bare set of dellortos with just the opening flaps in em if you want them - used similar on a pinto recently just filled/cut everything out and added sleeves for the injectors a bit like t/bodies but only 2" tall - has 4 more injectors sat out side in the airbox housing now to help out top end

iirc- the centres slide out and is 48mm inside anyway

anyone tried motorbike sliders yet ?

CDA - 3.3, 1.945, 1.308, 1.029, 0.837 and 3.68 CWP

If you stick in a 3.9 CWP, it will feel like you have another 20-30hp
Speak to Vince at Stealth or Hotgolf off CGTI who is in swansea I think for costs - probably about £500 and you may want to consider a quaife diff install at same time for approx £1000 total - these mods will really make your car perform
