just spoke to jabbe this morning about upgrades for a mk3 ibiza. they told me i'm looking at about £5,500 all in for an IHI, and only about £700 less for the K04? surely that's a bit high? i was thinking more, me doing all the other parts and then giving it to jabba for them to just do K04 turbo and map. is it not as simple as that then? i definately want something bigger than the K03s, i.e AM04, K04 etc. i was planning on fitting the following,

exhaust
downpipe
filter
intercooler
dv
4 bar fpr?

after that is it a case of just getting the turbo changed and it all mapped up? i was pricing it all up in my head at about £3000, not £5000! i've tried searching but can't seem to find anything, any help or reccomendations would be much appreciated! thanks guys.

u need a very specific custom made downpipe for the k04...thats the problem

it ends up being just as custom as the ihi, only with less power

you could probably get someone else to fabricate the downpipe and then source all the bits your self to save quite abit, but still looking at a few grand for it all

so that doesnt seem so bad really, but your car would probably be in there for a while

better off with am04/jbs04 really

ahh AM04, see i don't know about all these different turbos! isn't there the GT2x or something aswell? do these all offer more power than the K03s? that's what i want ideally. i didn't relaise the AM04 required alot of work. i don't specifically want the K04 just looking for other options.

thanks guys

AM04 shouldn't require a lot of work - it is essentially a K04-23 in a K03 "package" so it should bolt straight on. Still possibly need injectors, MAF and FMIC etc - not sure.

There are a few derivatives of K04, [K04-020/023 and K04-001] so be careful what info you read. The K04-020 and 023 are what were fitted to the S3, Audi TT225 and Leon Cupra R. With other mods they will map to 260-270bhp, the K04-001 is essentially a K03 plus a bit, will map to 240-250 odd.

The K04-020/023 is a different layout and would require a different manifold and downpipe and possibly charge piping.

The GT2X is an ATP Eliminator turbo, it's a Garrett GT Series packaged so it'll bolt straight on in place of your K03, still requiring injectors, MAF and FMIC + whatever, but *should* map to a bit more than a K04-023 (270-280 bhp ?).

JBS also do a K04-023/K03 hybrid called the JBS04.

You need to look at the whole package, mapping, fitting + tweaking etc...

feel - that's brilliant. exactly what i was after! thanks alot. i think i will look into the GT2X then as i won't have to get a custom manifold etc fabricated

A&M and ATP Both do a high-flow K03 manifold that would match up to either stock K03, or obviously a K03 hybrid or eliminator.

ATP's quality is apparently "suspect" but loads of people use them 'cos there's not a great deal of choice. The A&M one seems to be hard to get hold of...

I thought there was one consumer out there.... Craig! ? - but he's been stiffed on the rest of the order - so it's not fitted / mapped yet

You could ring JBS and ask them what is required in the fitting of a JBS04.

They also do a "fairly cheap" package for fitting one of these as well.

just had a call... from someone with an AM04... coincidentally. 260bhp from it mapped @ Jabba, 300+lbft torque looking for GT2X or bigger now to properly break into the 300's

Spooky..

JBS are people you need to speak to (depending on your location of course) they can fit you a JBS04 right up to something daft like a GT35R.
