Hello all!
I'm new to the sight and am currently looking at buying a Leon Cupra. My shopping travals took me to Wiltshire and Sons in Farnham and I'm sorry to say it was a very unpleasent and rude experience.
On the Auto Trader they had what appeared to be the car that I wanted - a 2003 Leon Cupra in Platinum Grey priced at £9495. The advert left out a couple of points I wanted to know so I called and spoke to a gent named Nigel. I asked, "How many owners has it had?" to which the reply was a slightly abrupt "One". I asked "Does it have a full service history?" and again the answer of "yes" came in a slightly 'can't be bothered' tone. I continued "Who was the servicing garage?" This time I got more than a one word answer. "Us. We sold it. We serviced it. We took it back as part ex" followed by a long sigh.
Unperturbed by Nigel's blatant lack of enthusiasm, I got directions and set out on the 80 mile or so journey.
On arrival I saw the car tucked away down the side of the dealership towards the back of the property. My housemate and I walked on down and started looking over the vehicle. I noticed quite a few scratches down the passenger side. These weren't the kind that could be T-Cut out - they were quite deep and very noticable. My housemate called me to the driver's side were the damage was even worse. Scratches right down to the metal! I was gutted.
With that a chap appeared from inside the dealership and asked "Did you phone earlier?" to which I said "Yes". He said, "You must be Steve then" and I again said "Yes". He asked "What do you think?"
My housemate and I had been at the dealership for less than 1 minute and being honest I told him I was disappointed in the car. He replied "WELL GO! DON'T BOTHER WASTING MY TIME - OR YOURS FOR THAT MATTER, JUST GO!" I was gob smacked!
The salesman continued saying something about the car not being prepared to which I said it would need a respray on the driver's side to make it semi-presentable. Again he said, "JUST LEAVE THEN! GO! DON'T WASTE MY TIME!" and with that he walked away.
I couldn't believe how rude and aggresive this chap was. He had other Cupras there that I could have been interested in but I wouldn't buy a car from this dealer now. I was there for no more than 2 minutes and this man's attitude was bang out of order. I had £1000 in my pocket for a deposit but it will be going to another dealer's till now.
Even if Wilshire and Sons had the perfect car in perfect condition at the right price, I wouldn't go back there.
