So by the sound of wot bill says it's not a direct fit?

I thought they told me no cutting was required.

I have made no comment about Jabba's FMIC fitment...

AM one is what I run and you need to remove metalwork to fit it, but mine is a large AM one remember.

I dont know what is or is'nt req'd for Jabba one (made by Pro-Alloy)

Depth of core also... AM one is thicker than a Forge one for example.
Count the bends and pipe sizes between em also, tightness of bends, construction of bends, rows of the cores, internal construction of the IC itself... vbar & plate or vacuum brazed extruded, internal turbulators etc etc etc - Its all a factor on how well the end product works. Not just how big is it.

Think of a small thin core but large surface area.... great for big surface area to heat exchange, but not so good for flow & pumping losses to push through a smaller core.. Think larger single pass core but not many rows, and how long the dwell time is within the core to actually heat exchange.... think about airflow distribution through the core to make use of the available surface area for heat exchange evenly.

Been thru all of the aspects in the various versions and revisions I have had personally. AM's fabricator with direct input created what seems to work fine for me when 320bhp and now 485bhp. Its is big, it needs chopping to fit, its not the cheapest of the bunch (probably), but it suits my needs.

has anyone got the dimensions of the AM intercooler. Could possibly get them made up from another company...

I was thinking this. I met some guy at a Land Rover meet who makes them. Said he had done one for a seat ibiza. Plus it would be i direct fit and a rough est was £350. But i won't bother posting anymore questions before i search for the company!!!!

i wouldnt get one made up to replicate anonther FMIC, it wont be the same,it probably wont work, lots and lots of things will be different, unless they have the EXACT spec of the FMIC to hand, have a good read of bills post (#73)

i would stick to what people have tried and tested - Jabba (bt), forge, am or laguna

A few peeps have already tried this and they are now running one of the above

He said the pipework would be a slight extra.

They seem to know there stuff. The company is AlliSport. i think that was the spelling, haven't got his card in front of me. they specialise in TDi intercoolers but have made one for a cupra before.
