Squeeking from rear

Im getting a loud squeek from the rear of the car (mechanical) when driving slowly over bumps or round corners at times.

Its definately nothing like the rear seats or anything. I thought it might be a corroded exhaust bracket, but a local place reckon its fine and not moving. Its just that the sound appears to carry on ever so slightly after the suspsension has settled, which makes me think it isnt damper/spring related??

Had Eibach springs and dampers fitted early last week, but i heard the noise the day before that, so i dont think its down to the new suspension. Has gotten worse since tho, not sure whether its coincidence or not.

Any ideas anyone?

Also, im struggling to find anywhere capable of doing wheel alignment, they all say they only have the factory settings which will be no good now lowered..... any ideas?? Theres nowhere with the VAG kit closer than Star to me

I have the exact same problem on my 1.6 16V.

When im reverse parking it is more so then than at other times. It comes from the rear, sometimes sounds like the brakes but then I thought the car may just need a little grease to oil it back up because I wash my car all the time.

My car is due for its 20K service next month so im gona speak to the dealer about it because its still under warranty but I dont know what it is either. Could it be the steering wheel as when im turning the steering i get the noise then as well?!

Yeh tell me bout it, im trying to park up with my system cranked up and u get this awful squeeking! Could it be the joint mechanism needs a bit of lubing up?

Ive been informed by a colleague at work to check the steering fluid.

Could be the motor possibly of the power steering. Best way to check this is to park up and turn the wheel to the left and lock and right and lock, you should hear the power steering motor, if u cant hear it its prob not working.

Im gona give it a go after work, will post outcome back.

could be bushes.............is it more of a squeeky sound?...........

I've got a similar noise which sounds like its coming from the back of the car, but now I thinks its sound from front bushes.

Sound similar?

i get loads of squeeking from the back end of my LC. In my case it is the rear suspension bushes. I'm thinking of changing them for poly bushes at some point to see if that solves it and maybe evem enhances the handling???

time will tell

if it's the bushes they will more than likely just grease them up. if your car has high mileage then i'd try and blag new bushes.

Yay!

After two garages tried to get me to fork out for a new exhaust, even tho its just the centre bracket/hanger, good old Tyrespot have welded the joint for £10. Great guys, very honest, says he's forever getting Golfs and Leon's in.... another dodgy part to add to the list eh!
