Seen a few threads pop up lately regarding SEAT service prices varying so much, and it's time for my 20k service (well in a few weeks anyway). So I'm posting this to keep track of the quotes I'm getting back to give you a good idea on the varying costs of services etc - will keep it up to date over the next week or so.

I've emailed a wide variety of local SEAT, AUdi, SKoda & VW dealerships.......

Please post here your 20k service costs & garage/dealership

1. Alex Lawrie Skoda - Liverpool = £185.90 (checking brake fluid costs if any)

2. Arnold Clark Seat Liverpool = £219 (inc brake fluid change)

3. Hobins of Prescot (Seat) = £211.22 & £39.95 brake fluid (£251.17)

4. IMG Warrington (Seat) = £233.41 & £45.12 brake fluid (£278.53)

5. Hampton Court (Seat) = £225 & £65 brake fluid (£290)

6. Jennings of Middlesborough (Seat) = £360 (unsure on brake fluid change)

Chapel House Skoda in Wigan wouldn't service me as I'm not a Skoda, guy has never heard of block exemption & suggests I'd have warranty issues ??

If you neck it with screenwash before you take it in will they still charge you for it?

I assume if they quote you a price beforehand, then they will stick to that price regardless of whether you need it or not.

Last year at my 10k service, I went to Skoda & they only used a tiny bit of washer fluid, but left the rest in my car for me :)

I took my 1.8 Toledo in for a 20k the other week (£225 - Hampton Court Seat).

When I booked it in I said I didn't want the brake fluid service done, as it's another £65 or something, and I'd rather get that done by my brother or his garage for next to nothing.

When they called me to say it's ready, they said they'd done the service and the brake fluid service. I said I'd specifically said I didn't want that done and the guy said "Oh, right...".

Anyway, when I got there to pick it up, they'd taken it off the bill, so I got the brake fluid service done but didn't have to pay for it!

Result!

I recently went to Winchester Skoda and asked for a quote for the 40K service on my LC. "We can't do that it's a SEAT."

So what, you've got VAG-COM and access to genuine VAG group parts I know people who've used Skoda dealers.

"Our VAG-COM can't work with SEAT, and you'd invalidate your warranty"

Rubbish, VAG-COM is universal I know people who use it on different VAG group cars.

"No sir we can't do it and we can't fit genuine Seat parts our parts have different codes"

so you can't fit genuine VAG parts to cars you service, but they're the same parts surely?

"the Seat ones have different codes from ours"

What you really mean is you don't want the work.

"are you calling me a liar sir?"

I left at that point before I turned into Victor Meldrew.

Are these guys numpties or am I missing something?????

Slightly OT, because it's not a SEAT dealer, but Jabba do it for £160 inc VAT.
I'm sure your local VAG specialist will be a similar price.

Chris Just called seat middlesbrough £170 inc vat without brake fluid, said another £35 for fluid change. Where did £360 come from! But i got my car from them so i dont know if that counts, and also do all their websites. Who quoted you 360 did you get a name?

havnt read all this thread but all i can say is blooody hell!

i need a 20k service in 700miles so i called 3 dealers the other day...

first of all, a 20 k service is mainly an oil, oil filter and pollen filter change, and taking the alloys off, taking the pads out and cleaning them, copper grease etc. and checking the braking system.

...first of all i called the motorist centre who USED to be the canterbury SEAT dealer for years until a few months ago! they are very good there and i trust them more than any other dealer!

all quotes are with using Quantum Syntha Gold 5w – 40 fully synthetic oil

£129.92 all in at the motorist centre!
(this is mainly due to their labour rate now being £40 an hour imo)

as for the brake fluid change, SEAT advice its done every 2 years! so i wont need that to be done for another 4 months and im planning on doin that when i fit new discs and pads anyway.

but they said it was £25 for a brake fluid change using the SEAT brake oil, but if you want to supply your own thats fine (could work out cheaper!)

next i called the Helix chelmsford dealer, who are also very good (delt with them in the past!)

20k service £175.

£33 for the brake fluid change

and lastly just for pure comparison i thought i would phone the Southend dealer, Parkstone... tho i will never go back there again as my car got keyed whilst they had it last time (whilst in for for warranty work!) [:@]

but wait for it... they said about £260!!!!

so the prices up north are a lot more!!!

i would have thought it would have been the other way round, especially as brand new cars are cheaper from dealers up north! ;)

hope this helps!

Right guys - had the service done yesterday by Alex Lawrie Skoda - Fantastic :)

Car was all lovely & cleaned out for me too - they even knocked off £20 when I went to pay as he said they quoted me the original figure using variable service oil - Top Result !!!!!!!!!!

Only problem is that my two front tyres are on the legal limit & the rear OS tyre that I had repaired last year is leaking, Skoda tech says it is unrepairable - so thats 3 new tyres needed :(

Great Job Skoda
