Lost power after fitting BMC CDA!!!

Just finished fitting my BMC CDA in my LCR 210 and took her for a spin but i have noticed that there is a lack of 'pull' and too much wooshing sound coming from under the bonnet??? :shrug:

I have an uprated forge 007 DV so not sure its that unless the spring is too weak and is letting air escape when under load???:confused:

Help needed please somebody! :D

I recently fitted a BMC CDA to my 210 and i felt a very slight gain.

Something does sound wrong there mate.

:( how did it sound after you had fitted it? Did you get alot of air sound as you accellerated or is it just a smooth groan sound like it wants 'to go some'? :confused:

The sounds i get are very wooshy and you can hear alot of turbo spool. so not to worry about that.

oh ok then, it just seems that when accellerating smoothly its really wooshy and no throttle response but then under load it doesnt pull untill in the high revs and then thats when the wooshing goes quiet.

Ive seen posts about reversing the DV could this fix it maybe? Do you think its not a wise idea to test it out?

Thats normal, you can hear the filter suck in a lot of air and you'll hear a slight 'woosh' on lift off!

Have you connected it to the original air duct?

Perhaps your MAF is knackered?

Yes i have replaced that plastic bit which connected the standard air box to the vent next to the nearside headlamp. Is this ok or best to do something fancy with the fog lamps like others???

Is there anyway that i can test my MAF sensor without vag com?

when under load the DV is open not sealing anything. I found changing back to the green spring helped mine as I found the yellow (stronger) spring dumping as soon as I lifted off only slightly.

I havent got a clue what colour spring i have! Im going to put my standard DV back in and see if there is any difference if there is then ill get that pack of three different colour springs for my uprated DV.

Check the black rubber ring is between the maf and the bmc to give a good seal. I think mine came off as was stuck on the box (its been a long time tho).
Could disconnect maf and go for a short run to see if it makes a diff (it should be much slower without). Think there's a sensor connects to it you can unplug.

You only need to worry about springs if your cars been remapped and even then only sometimes. Also, why would it suddenly go weak 2 seconds after installing an air filter? They dont give that much power you know!

Or even stick the original airbox back on and see what happens?

That black spongy bit is ok but cant be bothered to try standard airbox till weekend its getting darker in the evenings now by the time i get in from work!

I tried the BMC on mine, but took it back off, It felt slugish compared to my Dynatwist . Logs with vagcom showed it flowed less aswell.
Shame really cos it looked great under bonnet!!

I had the same performance with all 3 but the BMC sounded way better the std airbox.

Maybe you knocked the MAF and it's under reading you need a full power 3rd and 4th gear run and see the max G/s your pulling....should be circa 195

Erm sounds like Vag com stuff i havent got access to that- wish i did! :p

You say 'knocked the MAF' i unplugged it and took it out so it was easier to get the BMC in should i not have done this??? :shrug:

Is there by any chance that by disconnecting the battery for couple of minutes then reconnecting it will 'restet' the MAF and all would be well? :confused:

Is it just me or are those readings a bit low? :confused: I normally see 200-220 depending on weather. An apr thing maybe?

What does that tell you? Sorry but i need to learn all this stuff i want to get the software on my laptop i already have the connection lead

You can do a rough estimate of bhp by multiplying the max g/s throughput of the maf by 1.31. In theory anyway as it can go above what the turbo is rated for, but is good enough estimate for most.

You can download the older versions for free from the vagcom site. I dont think they allow logging the block you need but i suppose you could get someone to sit and read you the instantaneuos readout.

If you look in the revo section on here there is a link to a guide called sps3 advanced users guide or similar, this will give you all you need for vagcom logging.
