At long long last, I finally managed to have a play with one!!! (Autobahn of course!) ;)
Have to say, I wasn't impressed really.. Apart from the fact it looked and sounded the nuts.. When we had a couple of proper blasts (when traffic moved) I was soon having to back off.. Was expecting a bit more of a fight to be honest... Just have to find another one and see if it was the driver who was crap.. :(
Anyone else had the pleasure of driving/comparing one yet?

My best mate has a vxr...And its full stg 2 running 300bhp...and my stg2 Leon cupra keeps up with it.

My cars pushes 239 bhp and 276 ft-lbs torque. The astra Is running 311 ft-lbs torque.

Only thing i can suggest, is iv driven the VXR and the boost doesnt come in until quite late, 5500rpm, where as my car pulls strongly from 3000 rpm.

So im guesing that its the way the power is delivered on the Leons that makes them matches for more powerful cars.

Also, iv played with e36 M3...And wiped the floor with it..And yesterday a e46 m3 convertible..and Wiped the floor with that 2. Also done quite well against a Non convert e46. But the road was quite twisty and im thinking it was down to driver, not the car. If my car cost me 40k, i doubt i would push it either.

M3's???? What power you running mate?

Couldnt say power, estimate 230 I guess but until I am on the rollers in October I couldn't say...

Revo Stage 2
K03s
4Bar FPR
Milltek Cat back
TIP
Induction with CAI
FMIC
007P (Makes all the difference lol)

Getting an uprated clutch next week as my current one is knackered, been driving pants for a few weeks now, not hitting proper boost, not holding boost, not accelerating properly, most annoying!!

everyone thinks m3's are so fast etc, i think there not what everyone says either, if you talking about the evolution or imola then fair enough, why wouldnt you do one,

E36's M3's aint quick..they are supremly average. The e36 evo is a different matter. They are very quick..and have the potential for so much more. The main killer of the E36 M3 is they weigh alot. Same thing that kills the e46 M3 Convertable. Weight.

Can your mate drive...?
Just that, I would expect to struggle against a stage 2 VXR and i'm running 272bhp 295lb/ft.. So god knows how you manage it.. Fair play though...
As for M3's.. Anything from the E36 Evo upwards, you should not be leaving mate.. Unless the driver can't drive for ****.. My old man had a E46 M3 and above 90 it use to leave me quite comfortably...
Don't fprget they are a revvy car and have to be thrashed to get the most out of them.. 8000rpm redline..

i must admit im surprised at ppl thinking their car are far quicker than e46 m3s etc!

like rudd, and both bens i know they are very quick!

i have only had one propper blast against an e46 m3 (and it was a convertible) and it was from 80 to silly speeds... had to reach for 6th! (private runway ofcourse!)

anyways, he was 1 up and i even pulled into the slow lane to let him over take, but he couldnt... i pulled maybe one car length if that from him

without doubt he was trying.

tbh i thought it would be very close and it was :)

as for a astra VXR, im still waiting!

i think a lot of ppl have a blast against a fast car, and if they do them they think yes my car is quicker, when its quite often down to the fact the other driver wasnt trying 100% (i.e. he didnt drop it down a gear, or is simply a crap driver etc)

lol u may think this about my e46 m3 meeting, but i know 100% he was trying as he came looking for it... i over took him earlier before the motorway (which he didnt like!) then 10mins later he comes flying up my a*se!

my 2p worth!

edit: i wonder wat times they get at pod?! what they do 100mph in? 13??? i know off the line they are obviously much better then FWD. but thats were we are strong... once rolling!
