Coilpacks - no 5-year warranty

Seat UK just came back to me to say that there is no 5 year warranty on coilpacks.
However if a dealer finds one to be faulty due to manufacturing defect, then they "might" replace foc, but only after submitting a request to the "Goodwill department" at Seat UK HQ :thumbd:

I've been told by 2 seperate dealerships that the coilpacks DO have an extended 5 year warranty. And since then i've had all four of mine replaced under warranty no questions asked.

I was told that only the coilpacks themselves had their warranty extended from 3 to 5yrs, not the whole car.

I guess the dealer needs to 'check' that the part number on it is in teh range of 'defect' coils

rather than just wear & tear coil replacement

Yeah that may be the case, mine were all of the early revision. Although no one checked mine, they agreed to replace them free of charge over the phone before i got there. Maybe i was just lucky?

I think it depends who you talk to etc

My local dealer point blank refused, so I called SEAT UK explaining their dealer knew nothing.

dealer calls me back confirming he's ordered replacement coilpack.

I don't think the rule have changed, but if you aren't at the dealers - you do need to know 'why' they should change them (as they will be considered a wear & tear item - much like a 'normal' coil on older cars

revision of coils was checked on mine. had warranty on a "new" version which had failed also.
hear conflicting opinions from the same dealership on this... maybe rules change, maybe they make em up as they go.

The 5year thing I thought was on original purchase date of car on the "known" dodgy version of coil packs. It was replace them all if the known version coil packs, but last time it was only the one which failed apparently, but in my case it was a new version which had failed anyhows. (typically)
