Servicing, probably a very stupid question...

Service reminder thingy has been on the car for a week or so now, it's on 1300 miles now so I've got a lil while to go before I start panicing!

This will be the first time I've had this car serviced (bought in may 06), it will be on 40k approx when it gets serviced.

Any idea what they will do and how much it will cost? Like I say, probably a stupid question, I just have no idea about servicing etc! :(

If anyone could help it would be mucho appreciated!

It really depends on where you go. Seat dealers are more expensive than Skoda dealers, but it will pay to ring round a few local establishments to get an idea of the ballpark figures and try and use it for bargaining purposes. I paid £190 for my 10k and 20k, but you may need to add in things like brake fluid (£25) if it hasn't been done for 2 years. Not sure exactly what a 40k service entails but imagine it will one of the bigger ones.

Well it does pay to shop about!

I emailed places in Bournemouth, Sway, Southampton and Portsmouth, so far I've got the following back:

Bournemouth - £200
Sway - £220 plus £45 for brake fluid if it needs doing
Portsmouth - £295

All prices are inclusive.

Although Bournemouth is the cheapest and closest to me, I'm tempted by Sway, their email was the 'nicest' and gives me the impression their service would be better. The other two had lots of forwading from other people, doesn't really bother me but looks a bit unprofessional and kinda makes me think if they are a bit slack like that with their emails they may be a bit slack with their servicing!

Hiya mate - give your local VW/Skoda/Audi places a call too - I got my 10k service done at a Skoda garage, it was £65 cheape, the service was better, & they give me all the left over stuff they had used :)

I don't think so; not everyone pays as much attention to emails as you probably do.

You'd better ask people who've been to those services rather than make a decision based on an email :p.
