Does anyone know how powerful the original speakers for the Leon are ? how many Watts ?

And also, if i want to replace them is it simply a matter of taking down the old and fitting in the new or is there some work to be done on the electrical part; like adjusting the amp/power from the battery for more powerful speakers ?

Also, the original have tweeters while alot of newer car speakers have the tweeters mounted on the main speakers. I have found 2 models that have the tweeters separately; which should i buy ?

I don't want any speakers in the rear end, like in the trunk so i'm just going to replace the ones in the doors.

I found a guide on how to remove the inside of the doors so i should be ok as far as instaling the new speakers goes.

1. unless the car is old (100k +) then the leon speakers are good to start with, you will get a bog improvement in sound if you change the CD player to a good kind along the lines of Alpine, Becker, Pioneer etc.

2. If you must change them then yes, you can swap them. You will have to drill out the original speakers because they're riveted in.

3. Tweeters and speakers in one unit are called coaxial or two-way speakers. Usually they are not as good quality as separate "component" speakers. Plus the placement of the tweeter higher up on the dash will give a clearer sound and better stereo imaging - the sound comes from in front of you rather than your feet.

just changed mine recently as the front left blew up. Pain to remove the old but fitted a set of rainbow speakers and makes huge difference.

If you do it make sure you order some spare door carad clips asits easy to brake them also you might as well silicone the inside cards to prevent water leaks (see other post)

Hmm yes the car got 109.000km already so i'm thinking of changing the speakers before i change the CD Player (5~6 months from now).

I got the same car only in Black.

I got a broken tweeter in the front left and 2 of the other tweeters sometimes make a strange "hissss" sound.
+ they're not as powerful as i'd like them to be.

Thanks for the link Carpathian. Some interesting (and tempting) guides.

I do have loads of glue sticks hanging around. (Off topic: Bought loads in one of our DIY preparation trips. Thought if I can waste time and push the bill up I'll get out doing DIY. So far all I've used is 1 glue stick, the scraper and 2 boxes of filler  )
