From reading other threads, it seems IMO that it is the other custom remaps that tend to clutch-slip more than Revo. I think it should be easy to not slam your right foot to the floor in 6th gear at low revs as shouldnt be doing that anyway.
Im in the same situation as you as in I have the money and trying to talk myself into it, though the only issue i have is I always find other uses for the £500!!

Cant wait to get it though and then look at getting an SPS1.

It took me 18 months worth of research before i got it done - lol

If your worried about clutch slip you could always get a custom map & get the power/torque restricted to "safe" levels until you got an uprated clutch.

I think the standard clutch is at it's limits before remap.

ps - a remap is well worth it though - your car has got so much more power :D

I opted for a less aggressive map for the same reasons, I didn't want to $hag the clutch.

I opted for.......

Extra 5% power 0-1k rpm

10% extra power 1 - 1.8k rpm

25%extra power 1.8-2.5k rpm

33% extra power 2.5k - Red Line

lol the exact same situation as me and i will need the sps 1 aswell for when it goes in for service, has anyone had there car into the dealers for warrany work and not turned revo off? As 200 quid for a black plastic box with an on off switch seems heriffic to me.

As its been posted here, the clutch slippage is normally more common in the custom remaps and not plug and play liek Revo, as there safe levels are lower than say, Jabba or AMD... but this does effect the power increase, to give you a gauge...

RR a few weeks ago with a friend with Leons TDi's both with Revo and myself with AMD remap, they pulled numbers of 176-8bhp, 320-5lbs torque and i pulled 197bhp 344lbs....

This in turn then destroyed my clutch in 6 months... so got it replaced along with a few other parts and now it pulled even hard than ever before and is a joy to drive all day and i can boot it in lazy gears and feel relaxed that the clutch plate wont slip as the new clutch can take up to 350-400lbs torque.

If you want a cheap remap and no mods then get Revo and just tweek your driving style to work around the mapping, if you want to use all the rev range, keep your money at the moment, save up about £600 for a new clutch and get it all done at the same time.. the new clutch and remap will transform your car overnight...

well worth IMO!

I'm still trying to justify spending so much on a new clutch...............

You did with a new remap... similar money.... and when you get a clutch its like a remap, you can floor it pretty much from 1500k....and the pull from that rev range is amazing, instead of waiting till over 3k without a new clutch for gettin full power..... just my 2p worth...

This clutch thing does tend to put me off...

You're not alone there. I did a poll about a year ago and 50% said theyd get a remap if they could be sure the clutch would be ok.

I know you can change your driving school, but to be honest I dont want to. My Cupra TDi already had a clutch change due to a defective 1st one - it only slipped about 3 or 4 times, and only for a couple of seconds - but it was horrible !!!!!!!

I did have my old TDi 110 revo'd and wow this was good after - so I'd love to do the same to the Cupra, but only if .....................

Jabba will limit the torque to avoid clutch slippage. They make a point about it in the TD section so they are making you aware before you buy.

http://www.jabbasport.co.uk/

Which is nice and honest of them:D

Yeah jabba look good but its a 200+ mile hike + you have to hang about for 4 hours in a room, the extra cost in fuel make it the same price as revo. Also i suppose jabba code cant be disabled?

It can be adjusted if thats what you mean from min-max with the boost controller they install.

You have to think why they take 4 hrs and revo 15mins also.

Value for money springs to mind, especially as you get rolling road time before and after, something no other company offers.

A rolling road session will usually cost around £60-£70 so i think it is very good value for money!

I had a 500 mile round trip, 250 each way and my local revo dealer is 5 mins away!

With the time and the effort jabba put in, it makes them so much more worthwhilst, they'll even clean the maf for you!
