Alpine 9847R install in mk4 Ibiza FR

Hey guys,

Been to halfords to see if I could get myself the necessary adaptors etc to install my Alpine 9847R ive had for a little while now. Basically got told I couldnt install it otherwise my climate control wont work anymore? Surely, that cant be the case...

Im just wondering what I will need to get it installed properly (ideally with steering wheel controls) as my HU is just sitting doing nothing and my Alana refuses to play my CDs properly!

I thought all I would need would be the stalk adaptor and an ISO connector?

you can fit it no problem. You need an aeriel booster and the stalk adapter. I'm not sure if you can get a stalk adapter for the Mk4 Ibiza honestly but otherwise it'll be no problem.

Any ideas where I can get this all from as Halfords were adamant that if I done this it would stop my climate control from working?

The part you need like pete says is an Ampilified Antenna iso adaptor the Autoleads part no. is PC5-52 around ten pounds ish.

No adaptor for the harness is needed but you will need to swap the yellow and red wire round.
Best just to use the Switched / permanent live and the dimmer from the cars harness, to make sure you dont get any problems like the central locking playing up.

oh yes you wont get any problems with the climate control. I think the donkeys are on about the MK3 with the large display!!!

Its the Mk3 Ibiza that has the climate control unit built around the stereo. The MK4 is a totally seperate unit and youll have no probs in changing the stereo in a Mk4.

Oh and the steering controls wont work at the mo, but soon the controller will be out to be able to use the steering wheel controls for most head units.

Without going too far O/T...

I note "Ampilified Antenna iso adaptor" gets mentioned a couple of times which intrigues me. I had an Alpine CD HU (I forget which model without going to the car to look) installed in my Ibiza when the car was new by the supplying dealer. Radio reception has always been utterly rubbish to say the least - I've worn the number off button "2" as I've pressed it so many times to force the radio to re-tune.

It sounds like the dealer didn't bung in one of these widgets. Is it a simple job to do if I can whip the HU out?

Yeah it's a simple job, just plugs inline with the aeriel connection and then you have a wire to connect to the HU's powered aeriel output.
