Wierd grinding sound when accelerating in lower gears

Hi there,

I own a 2002 Leon Cupra Fr 1.9 tdi, and recently had some money put aside and decided to invest into some repairs to the engine and new brake plates etc. however i started to notice a wierd grinding/scraping sound when accelerating in first and second gear. It is kind of hard to describe the sound, its not that proeminent but its there and it frustrates me. the best i can describe it is like an electronic saw cutting against metal vaguily under the car.

I tried getting it fixed but not one service could precicely determine the cause and they told me to roll with it until it causes actual running problems. I couldnt find any close sounding video online except this one
and the creator said the problem was from the catalyst heat shield .

Can anyone help me or do you guys have any advice?

Hi mate, welcome to the forum.

Sounds like it's probably a brake pad rubbing slighty on a disc/rotor. That would be my best guess. Did you change the pads and discs/rotors, or just the pads?

Also you have posted your comment in slightly the wrong section, this is the 'Guide section; you need to post it in the general section, it's an easy mistake to make.
