I bought a used Ibiza the other day, on the test drive the radio was working, so sometime in between then & collection, I think the battery has been disconnected (poss when a spare key was reprogrammed or during service)
When I eventually tried the radio it came up with what I now know is the code entry, as I didn't know what it was asking, i've been locked out & its in a continual safe mode not allowing for code entry... I also don't have the code as the manual wasn't in the documentation, only a service booklet with a sticker in, but nothing in the format of a 4 digit pin anywhere I can see...
I've searched for answers, but the suggested method isn't working, so I'd just like to clarify the correct method to get it out of SAFE mode.
1. with no key in the ignition, turn the radio on, walk away & leave for a few hrs ??? (tried overnight & still in safe mode)
2. with no key in the ignition, turn the radio on, walk away & leave for EXACTLY 1 hr (or else the time out resets) ???
3. Turn power on / drive around for 1-2 hrs & radio will eventually reset ???
In all the info I've read about this problem there's these slightly differing solutions - it just seems a bit of a design flaw - 'hey car, I've got the key, I'm driving in you, so why won't you let me turn the radio on?'
Problem is I'm not making any hour+ journeys any more, not for the foreseeable future anyway & i don't want to run the battery down or damage it
I haven't got the confirmation of ownership paperwork sent through yet, i only picked it up over the weekend, so can't go to a dealer to extract get the code until I do - so in the meantime I'd like to get it out of safe mode & back to the point where its asking for code entry & also see if I can find the code or serial on a sticker somewhere, which brings me to the 2nd part of my post...
How do you remove the Alana Radio? & preferably using a DIY technique not involving keys, or which keys would I need
