Oil Leak LCR

Hey Guys. Pulled into work this morning and came back later to find a small patch of oil and dripped from under the car in the space of a couple of hours.

I ran it down to the local garage (as it's only 200m away), and they've yet to find out exactly where it's coming from.

I had a look under the car and it's managed to get all on the exhaust/cat cover too

They're telling me they need to clean up the engine and run it to see where it's coming from. Is this normal, and does anyone know what might be causing it.

I've only had the car 2 days, so err, this sucks a tiny bit...

Unfortunately, they are right, they can't trace the leak - unless it's blindingly obvious - until they have cleaned everything else. Then you can find out where the source of the leak is as it should be fairly obvious then.

Hopefully it will be a dodgy oil filter or something similar. Hope it's easily fixed!

Hmm. Me thinks the previous owner knew about this and tried to hide it...
But, I shall cross that bridge after diagnosis.

Anyway, does anyone know of any VAG specialists in the bucks area. I've got it booked into Fontain in Iver, but they want £65 an hour and state they're an audi specialist. Something cheaper would be nice!

HMMM,

Thanks colonelk. I've already booked it into Indie Tech in MK (didn't see that one on google!). But now, the oil *seems* to have stopped. Admittedly I didn't exactly drive it hard into work this morning but I guess I was cruising at around 3.5krpm. No leaks oil when I checked an hour later.

It's confusing me now, as it seemed to be leaking heavily on Monday...I drove it harder to work on Monday, but even then I wasn't ragging the engine.

HMMM. I'll give it a bit more juice on the way home...

I had a small oil leak just after i had the oil changed just clean the oil filter and see if it just needs tightening up(when cold) thats all mine was??
who ever you bought it from might have had a oil change just before you had it??

It was serviced within 2 weeks of him picking it up.. done by a VAG Mastertech, did you sort it Number 86?
