LCR acceleration compared to S3?

Hi,

Anyone know what LCR's are like compared to S3's I've heard they 'feel' a bit faster because they are FWD and a little lighter, is that true?

Book speed S3's are quicker to 60 which would indicate they must be quite a bit quicker in general as they don't hit 60 in 2nd gear, I have assumed the electric recaros and 4wd would weigh them down a bit?

the s3 0-60 will be quicker due to traction of the 4wheel drive, in gear the very same 4 wheel drive is the s3's down fall as it will rob power through drive train loss, so the lcr will be quicker n gear

weel my stage 1 Lcr wipes the floor with my mates stage 2 s3 from about 30 mph on just pulls lengths on it it also wipes the floor with his bros stage 1, A LCR is a very fast car from rolling also LCR will beat a s3 on quarter mile, well mine does:D

What jake said. They will be quicker to 60 due to their quick acceleration to 40mph when the LCR would be on half throttle to avoid wheelspin. After around that speed when you hit second gear, the LCR should be quicker. If you did a rolling start 40-80 for example, I'd expect the LCR to get ahead of the S3.

I have a S3 and have a mate that has a LCR and rolling from 30mph we are usually exactly then same till X amount of mile an hour. Even if I get the slight jump or he does think distance always remains the same.

However if we race from standing start I can pull about 5 length on him and it will creep away slightly.

This is my experience of one for straight line, throw in some bends and round abouts and he mostly givs up after he keeps losing length.

Threads like this always boils down to the driver driving his car correct.

Sounds like it will be pretty tight either way (don't want to start an S3 vs LCR war). Glad they are close, can't hack the old vw oil burner any longer so trying to get the funds together for a LCR. Only driven a standard one it didn't feel as quick as my old stage 1 s3.

It'll be going straight for a remap - big grins all round!

Well excited now, thanks guys!

my tdi (don't know what stage it would be) kept, and pulled in a standard MY05 S3. the look on his face when i said it was a diesel was golden :D

off the line i wouldn't stand a chance, however rolling is another story

Haha will miss that about the diesel, peoples suprised faces when they clock the tdi badge!

Could have been an s-line A3 diesel the look pretty similar. Don't know of many diesels that would have an s3, bar a Beemer 335d, one of them embarrassed me on a motorway in the s3.

I was on about the older 225 but think Volvic had a go with a new 265 (or an a3 sline). Mine was mapped so around 260 when I was playing with the 335d - Well I say playing I mean losing! Those things are seriously rapid.

Power to weight, aerodynamics and rolling resistance are the only factors when grip is not. I had a go with a WRX, the new one and even if it was close I had him in 4th. "Had" being a half car length :p
