To keep it short: Minor dink caused nick to front bumper (I'm not bothered) and the front bumper went into the screenwash tank, somehow breaking it. Now, pouring screenwash into the tank simply leaks all over the road; not good.
Took it to a local mechanic. No further damage confirmed but they believe the tank will need replacing (it's not simply disconnected from its pipework).
Spoke to an official Seat dealer and they have stated that a 'diagnostic visit' will not be available for a week, then I will need to wait a further 2 weeks for the part to be ordered/fitted. If I don't go down this route and instead just get hold of the part myself (from an official Seat dealer or otherwise) and have it fitted by a standard mechanic, all/part of the warranty would be void.
Apparently, I can't just order the part from the Seat dealer either and directly arrange a fitting visit, because "they haven't confirmed that the part needs replacing."
This seems fairly ridiculous. I understand why they're doing this procedure as a general practice (confirm the damage, arrange repairs etc) but in this instance it's pretty obvious what needs fixing. Do I really need to spend 3 weeks without wash fluid (seems rather dangerous) to avoid affecting warranty??
