Accelerator pedal not working

I have a 2007 sear leon 1p and sometimes the accelerator pedal doesn't work ill be driving and try to accelerate and nothing happens the pedal just goes to the floor after pressing it a couple times it will begin to work again anybody have any information on this or how to fix it
