Hey guys,

i know this seems to be an ever occuring problem on leons , but a bit of advice please as new to all this.

I think my MAF is playing up ( second one i have had) as when i am accelerating especially when hard i loose power and then it comes back , it is very hesitant etc.

Anyway i discounted the plug thing that is connected to the MAF and everything is as sweet as. Should i be doing this ? does disconnecting the plug damage the engine?

As i have unplug the sensor and all is running fine , does this mean that it is the MAF or the Plug that is the problem?

Cheers.

should done a search you get loads of info on people with similer problems!
you can run the car for a few miles with maf disconnected but not recommned! as the ecu is running on default values

If the maf is playing up! you should measure it on vag!

The plug wont be the problem, it will be the MAF itself. By disconnecting it (which isn't a problem by the way) you're forcing the ECU to use a set of default values instead of the info that the MAF normally provides.

If the power delivery seems smoother with the MAF disconnected, chances are it's the MAF at fault. Even brand new MAF's can be faulty, so the fact that this is your second one shouldn't make a difference.
