think its the oil level sensor, cause oil pick up or oil pump block normally follows by a red oil light flashing with 3 beeps . had that issue before

Yes sorted it

The oil level sensor was playing up just a constant yellow light pretty sure the cold temperatures outside can effect it btw if not that then:

if the oil level is fine then don't worry the fix for this is to disconnect the battery for 10mins and reconnect it thats the negative cable iirc

the light will then go out, had mine looked at with VAGCOM at the garage no error codes what so ever, just had a service done, oil change filter etc so hopefully thats the end of the problem, they didn't change the sensor as no fault code, so it will be fine to drive

the light is supposed to go out if low on the oil, when you open the bonnet top it up and close it, thats supposed to reset it, but more often than not it doesn't work disconnect the battery and all will be fine, as long as its not the red oil pressure light if you see that don't drive it get it towed to a garage for investigation

I think it must be the sensor then because iv had battery off for about 2 hour and the light came bk on when started up again, have disconnected the bonnet sensor like u mentioned and still didn't cure it and the oil level is fine so pointing to the sensor me thinks, will have to go garage though as don't have vag com, the car is fine just doin my head in that the light flashes about 4 times every time I turn ignition on. Ps how did it cost if u don't mInd and did u do it urself? Cheers

yeah yours sounds like it needs a new sensor then,

if theres an error code vagcom will confirm the faulty sensor get it checked out

I have the yellow flashing oil symbol when you turn the ignition on, had it scanned and it showed up - intermittent oil sensor, worth checking the wiring on the sensor, if that's ok new sensor, don't think they're too expensive.

PEOPLE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LISTEN TO YOUR CAR!!!!! :scary: :scary:

This is a big problem with the 1.8T engine, and has killed a few engines over on Briskoda.net. The yellow warning may be low oil pressure (It's red on the octavia). DO NOT DRIVE WITH IT ON!!! The oil strainer will be blocked, and serious engine/turbo damage will result, if it hasn't already. It can happen at any time, no matter what the service history.

Have a read here, it's such a problem, it's about to be made a sticky.

http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/187391-all-octy-1-owners-please-read-this/

There's a guide on page 3 how to change it.

You can tell if this is the problem as the oil level will be OK, but the light will stay on. Chances are it is NOT a sensor. They rarely fail.

Don't put this off, as oil starvation is mega expensive!!!!

These are seat mate not skoda, the yellow light means low oil and the red light is when you have low pressure which is normally the blocked pick up, if someone has done a scan and it's showing a faulty sensor then I'd say it's a sensor myself unless vag com is wrong ?

Same engine though , so Seat's are not immune to the probelm. Skodas flash red for low oil pressure and yellow for oil level, and it wouild make sense that that theme followed across the VAG stable, but as we know that isn't always the case.

Still worth checking though, as if it goes, big bill time! Do it while you are changing the oil level sensor.

Yes def wil check it, seems the lights are the same then cos yellow is low level(which is what we have) and like u said red is pressure, there is quite alot of threads on here which support what u said aswell about it getting blocked with gunk and the red light light coming on which like u sed is bad news so is obviously a common vag prob like other things.
Any idea if this blockage prob effects diesels as bad as the petrols get it as I'm in a diesel 150?

I'm not sure TBH, I think it's mainly the 1.8T which is affected. The 1.8T turbo runs a lot hotter than the diesels, so that can't help.

I've looked on the net, and the pickup on the 1.9 diesel looms very similar to the 1.8T, so probably worth having a look.

If you turn the ignition on (but not start the engine) does it still flash the yellow light? Because that to me would indicate a faulty sensor/wiring instead.
