Wrapping/Painting wheel arches rear panel

Hi, just picked up my 2022 V2 in black, love the car, love the styling but I was thinking of changing the silver wheel arches and rear panel and the bottom of the doors to either being blacked out or the Cupra copper colour. Anyone done this, and did you paint or wrap?

I spoke to a wrapper about plastic panels like this on my Leon Cupra mk3, and they said it wouldn’t stick, so had it painted instead. Looks great now.

I think whether plastic panels can be successfully vinyl wrapped or not depends on whether the plastic has a grained / textured finish or a smooth finish. It’s more likely that a vinyl wrap won’t adhere to plastic with a grained / textured finish, whereas it probably will when applied to plastic with a smooth finish.

A warning regarding the wrapping.
If you scratch it, you can't patch it.

Agree.

Additionally, cosmetic modifications such as vinyl wrapping could affect the cost of insurance because of the additional repair costs involved if the vinyl wrapped panels are ever damaged and need replacing (the extra cost of the vinyl wrapping material and the labour costs involved in applying it) compared to an equivalent standard car with no vinyl wrapped panels.

Also, if the OP decides to repaint, then that’s a more permanent change that might not appeal to some future prospective buyers when the time comes to sell the car, so could affect resale value. Probably not such an issue if going from sliver to black on a black car, but copper on black might be too much for some people, even though copper is the Cupra’s signature accent colour.
