Well picked up my new Leon FR TDI (5k miles ex demo) last night and all i have to say is it so much better than my Ibiza FR TDI.
The engine has got a sportier sound to it and the interior and exterior build quality is in a different league. It is exactly the same interior as my brothers 2000 Audi A3, top notch.
Its the wee touches like the folding mirrors, the lights that come on on the doors when open, lights coming on when opening the shutter on the sun-visor mirror. It feels totally more solid and better built.
And the extra power is quite noticable, i thought it wouldnt be as obviously a heavier car but im impressed.
All in all I am Very very happy at swapping....

I will take a couple of better pics after i have stopped driving it for another few hours....... [B)]

yeah but it were'nt a cheap swap.

Struggling to see how the leon sounds sportier than the Ibiza. Surely they both sound like a taxi:confused:

Wait until you get some miles on it, they just get better and better.

Just had 10K service on mine and it is awesome. Goes like wet sh*t off a shovel and economy is getting much better (not that it was bad in the first place)

I've found the economy not as good as the Ibiza so far, though I havnt really been driving slowly much since i got it! But when i do reset the average mpg computer and drive sensibly its around 8-10 mpg less than the Ibizas FR TDI.
Although saying that the Ibiza didnt start giving better mpg figures until after about 12k miles or so...

Depending on what I'm doing I get between 40 and 53mpg. 40mpg with a heavy for and crusing on M-way around 110 and 53 on a more sensbile journey with a variety of roads.

I do 33k a year so couldn't do a Scoob. Wouldn't anyway.

Mine is 9months old with 24k on it.

I would like to see what insurance would say about Revo.

Mine too, I'm only doing around 10K per year. Considering REVO but am so tempted to do something stupid like buy an Impreza WRX!

Oh my god.... dont do it... they are terrible... yours as it is will out run a WRX at motorway speeds... get yours REVO'd... or at least get the free trial.. .whatever you do, think V E R Y carefully about an WRX Impreza... :(

Are they really that bad?

I've got a TDI 150 and can't see it beating a scoob. Unfortunantely revo isn't available as a trial on the TDI and I don't really want to do it without experiencing it first.

Don't get me wrong the 150 is good but I just miss the "revvyness" of a petrol.

I am talking UK spec new age WRX's.... yes, they are that bad... honestly. I wanted one of these so bad last year... had a couple of small test drives and liked them. Then I had a decent drive in one, took it on a motorway and oh my god... as the speed builds, the performance drops considerably (down to 4wd Transmission losses) They are a one trick pony, being 4wd they do have good grip in damp conditions, but bone dry conditions, they are inferior. I know some people will say who cares after 70mph, but when you're paying all that money for the insurance, tracker subscription and petrol, you dont want to drive something that a Vectra SRi 1.9 CDTi can pull away from (true!!). By all means try one if you like..... just be wary !!

(Before people start, yes you can get them PPP'd or Tek3'd etc... this does help, but why buy a car purely for its performance AFTER you modify it??)

I've been up against a V-plate Mk1 over some quiet, wide, fast, straight roads (A507 between Baldock and Amptill) and when overtaking lorries etc he was struggling...... ultimately from 56 to 80 he was slightly quicker, but still only edging away. I reckon if we'd been going from 70 to 120 I'd have been right on his bumper all the way.

Out of the roundabouts from 20 to about 60 he destroyed me! Great fun though.

Thanks Spanky, just the info I've been looking for!

Anyone in reaonsbaly close proximity of Cheltenham with a revo'd 150 feel like giving me a demo?

No problem. I was so dissapointed as I had been wanting one for so long, but would have been distraught if I'd have found this out after I bought one. :)

Awesome looking car by the way
