Wishbones

On my 2004 LCR my rear bushes in ma front wishbones are about gone but heard you can replace just the bushes. But was then told it was better just to replace the wishbones coz replacement bushes wont last as long, Im confused coz the bushes get pressed into new wishbones so why cant you just press in some new bushes to old wish bones??

You just need new bushes
I am currently buying some wishbones to rebush and fit when i do my coilovers.
2 bushes are easy to press out, 2 others are a pain to remove and will need holesaw or burning out

Unfortunately it is the rear front bushes (the ones you say are shagged) that are the pain to remove! I used a hacksaw and hammer combination to get them out!

Mine are going now, the N/S/F one has a crack in the rubber and is making a knocking noise. Is it best to replace the arms? Any rough idea on price before I badger Sere Motors?

i replaced the arms and ball joints and also top strut mounts. bushes as mentioned are a pain in the a** to replace. i think for the arms i paid abuout £70-£80. remember the lcr ones are more expensive than the standard leons

Bushes are around £10 each. If you've got the tools it is not a hard job, just a pain in the arse!!

I don't have a press so I think it will be hard to do. Do the ball joints come as part of the arm? R4MSN, was that price for a pair?

Take it to the garage to fit the bushes...

Mine cost me £60 to have fitted when supplied the parts... worth every penny imho.

No, ball joints are extra. In the region of £30 each from memory.

Previously spoke dave at sere and cast wishbones are 70 to 80 quid each, ball joints about 40 quid each!!!!
Rears i plan to burn out then hacksaw outer metal shell out
Fronts are easily pressed out and could probably be done with a vice and some correctly sized tube
In a few weeks my wishbones maybe up for sale, just need powerflex to start production again!

i think it tends to depend on the condition of the arm surounding the bush as to weather you get a snug fit like you would on a new 'un' after you have pressed em out. im due some and im getting em for 30 a side, there not seat parts but are suposed to have slightly uprated bushes :-/ what you think?

For anyone who maybe about to attempt rebushing.
I have just managed to remove rear bushes in about 10 minutes using a few bits n bobs and DIY stuff
Fronts are easy to pop out on hydraulic press (maybe arbor press if you are strong/heavy)
If anyone wants a more in depth account PM me
The wishbones i have just done were for Phillc, hopefully mine should arrive in the next few days so i may do a guide if anyone is interested when i do mine
