Wiring Question

I previously owned a 2004 FR 20VT. I now have a 2006 FR TDi facelift model. On my 20VT I had the Autowindow module installed. I removed this and have been trying to install it in my TDi this week. The problem is that the colours of the wires have changed. I'm not sure if it's due to being a newer model or TDi but here's what I'm looking for.

Within the door of the 20VT there was a Brown wire with either a Yellow or Purple Trace. This wire should have a small amount of voltage going through it when the door is open and drop to zero when the door is closed. I have a multimeter however in order to test the wires I would have to remove the inner metal door cover which I'm not keen on.

The wires which go to the door latch are as follows:

2 x Brown (1 of which goes to the alarm LED - I take it these are ground wires)
1 x White with Purple Flash (also goes to alarm LED)
1 x White with Green Flash
1 x Blue with yellow flash (used on Autowindow already)
1 x Yellow with Blue flash (used on Autowindow already)
1 x Purple with yellow flash
1 x Green with blue flash.

My question is - Does anyone know which of the remaining wires replaces the old Brown/Yellow or Brown Purple? Would the brown wire definately be a ground therefore it would never have any voltage running through it?

    :( :wtf:

Thanks, Brian.

you can get to all the wires needed without taking the metal off

your going to need to stab a pin through each wire i am afraid and test seems the newer version uses different colours as my tdi (Which was the autowindows development car) ar as per your old 20vt

I thought the windows went up if you held the key over to one side anyway??? or do you mean by just blipping the fob to lock then the windows go up then?

Excellent Idea mate, I'll have a STAB at this if the rain ever stops! Cheers.

Ahh don't get me started on the rain Brian, what a PITA.

Got new sidelights to fit but given the weather and the fact it's gonna be a nightmare of a job...

what do the auto windows do?

Lets you put the door windows up and down with the key. When you lock the car they go up automatically.

It's a cracking device. The one I have has a vent feature and rain sensor. You can put the windows up or down with the remote. It also lets me leave the windows down about an inch in the summer when the weather is HOT to keep the air circulating in the car and should it rain the windows close automatically! I've never had a problem the alarm going off in vent mode either! I usually roll the windows down on a hot day when I'm about 30ft away, it lets the burst of hot air out.

A great wee gadget!
