Hi all,

Our Formentor is currently fitted with 245/40/19 tyres. I´m thinking about buying winter wheels.
But the only other tyre size I´ve found on an online ETKA is 245/45/18. BTW, This size is not labelled as winter wheel and I think this is a bit wide for winter tyres.
For instance, our former car was an Audi Q3 Mk1 with 235/50/18 summer wheels. Registered winter wheels were 215/60/17.
Narrower wheels is a good thing to increase grip in poor road conditions.
I had expected the same for a Formentor, but I didn’t find the information yet.

Does anyone know what the registered size is for winter tyres please?
TIA.

You should also be able to use 215/55 R17 and 225/55 R17 with 7.5J rims. The car is certified for these as well. Personally I don't like the 215/55 R17 ones, they look....weird :) I'm planning on switching to 225/55 R17 or 245/45 R18.

Hi,
The size you give for tyres and rims look OK, thanks. But I don't find any 17" rim on my favorite online ETKA (I've been using ifinterface.com over last 20 years), thus I've no idea what yours look like.
Do you have any pics of your wheels fitted with 225/55/17 tyres? Are they OEM Cupra ones? BTW, what's the ET value?
Thanks a lot. :)

In my national car identity card I have the following allowed sizes:

215/55 R17 94V M+S
225/55 R17 97V M+S

225/50 R18 95W M+S
245/45 R18 96W M+S

245/40 R19 94W

And while searching over the internet for 17" rims, the certified ones seem to be ET40 7.5J. Although I didn't check the car's compliance certificate, I believe this is where these values are taken from.

I don't have 225 wheels yet. I plan to change the 215 ones with 225/55 R17 or 245/45 R18 later this autumn.
